We've inflicted disaster on ourselves Col, by not picking up a single point away from home. Just one would have kept us out of the bottom 3. If, by some miracle, we win at Everton we are only 1 point behind them (Everton). But I'm not holding my breath. The pressure on us to beat West Brom and Palace at home is huge. But if we do I think the table will look much more comfortable.

Burnley have only lost to us in their last 6 games. Only Leicester and Hull are doing us any favours, and I don't expect that to last will Hull, they have quality in the team.

Obviously our away form has contributed hugely to our current plight. But whilst that continues, we need others to struggle. Southampton are turning to ****!

They only needed to score against a crap Burnley team and we wouldn't be in the bottom three.

I think we'll do very well to win both our next two home games. I'd take 4 points from those two right now

Looking at the Burnley highlights, Heaton also saved a penalty for them from Tadic before the Barnes deflected goal, so they had a bit of luck today.

I had a feeling we'd be in the drop zone come 5pm.

To try and look on the bright side, the lads know what they need to do!

On the positive side..... 38 points or so will be enough to ensure survival. So a good rule of thumb is to aim for the same number of points as games played. In general, at least 3 teams every year fail to achieve this figure. Some teams around us now may climb out of the drop zone periodically but they will be replaced by others who will fall below the games/points parity ratio. We will prevail. I hope.....

With very good luck! Stupid Saints lose ball from a throw in - how many times does that happen? Then lucky deflection to wrong foot the Saint's goalie.

That will not happen too often.

The other thought I had was thinking back to Bolton beating us on the first day of that season and then we survived at their expense. I wonder if history might repeat itself with Hull?!

They also beat us in the return when Clint's 'goal' wasn't given, if ever there was karma it was on the last day of that season...

Rolling on to Sunday, I've been watching the 2nd half of Man Utd v Liverpool.

Liverpool losing 3-0, yet registered twice as many shots on goal.

Quite the Balotelli v De Gea show - Mario was actually getting some very good shots on target, which De Gea was more than equal to, producing some fantastic saves.

Crowd were chanting to Brendan Rogers, "You're getting sacked in the morning" - poor old Brendan.

"Brendan Rodgers should be axed purely for Dejan Lovren. Worst defender ever"
    "Rodgers' days are numbered now."
"The score doesn't reflect what has happened on the pitch. David De Gea man of the match."

Didn't catch it but heard it was a decisive win. Floyd or Manny next - now there's a challenge.

And Connaught won again yesterday.... Leinster next can we do the double?
