Rodgers makes a good point though, you wouldn't have said he was delusional in May of this year I reckon though that it was taken a little out of context, maybe he meant out of who's available or something, certainly he's not thinking he's the best manager out there.

I'm not sure why. There's no suggestion that they're being made specifically in order to be sold on- just that the intention is to bring young players with potential up to a high standard rather than buy the finished article. The wisdom of that policy is debatable, but it has been FSG's professed intention since they took over, so nothing new there,imo. As for Raheem, well, sadly that was bound to happen - his agents will be doing their best to screw as much money from us as they can.
1. raheem.. average prem player is on 43k per week... we offer an england "star" and our best young player less than doube the avergae.... of course the boy can get more elsewhere... of course he can but he'll end his career by moving. 2. rodgers.... deluded but of course he has to say he's the man to do it.
maybe saint. principal is fine, but we produce them and they get their heads turned as they get the opportunity to play with other world class players they are off, which sadly may at some point happen with raheem. a club our stature and size should be buying world class players as well as producing them, gives us more hope of keeping hold of them when we do turn them into class players and more chance of having success.
I agree- that's why I said the wisdom of the policy is up for debate. It seems fairly obvious to me that a team with top 4 aspirations has to have a mix of young future potential with a solid core of established, quality experience. I think BR knows that as well, we tried to get some of those in the last few windows. Unfortunately, our (relative) mediocrity of the last two decades has made us a less attractive proposition for these players and most will head towards the clubs where they think they've a chance of winning things. We're caught in a vicious circle of needing to be at the top to attract quality, but needing the quality to get to the top in the first place. The only way to quickly break that cycle is to throw money we don't have at it- something our current owners aren't prepared to do. If we'd have kept Suarez, and Sturridge had stayed fit, then we could have built on last season's success. That hasn't happened, so we're more or less back to square one. Rodgers appears to be saying he's confident he's the man to get us up again, that's all. It may be bulls**t, but I'd rather he was bullish about it than throw his hands in the air and say he has no idea where we go from here.
Think need to look into the context of this. He was prob asked a leading question of, "do you still think you can get LFC back to the top again" to which he's obviously going to answer yes.. He's hardly going to come out and say "No.. I don't think I'm the man for it. There are 100's of other manages who could do better and take this club to the next level."
There isn't another manager around who can anyways. All the top managers are in jobs and very rarely jump ship and the ones which don't aren't better than him.
Not really. We're not expected to win this, given the circumstances (and it would be a tricky fixture at any time). If Rodgers' job were on the line, it would be because of the dross we've produced so far this season generally, rather than this fixture.
So far he's made nothing. Suarez was already well on his way to world class. Sterling couldn't finish his dinner. Everything else he's touched has turned to dross. Every signing he has made other than Studge and Coutinho (who are both in an out of the team for differing reasons) have gone backwards. You could argue that he's done more to damage players chances to become good...this list of players who arrived here and have gone backwards fast is mind boggling!
Sorry Rodgers, but you're full of sh*t on this one. A top manager would pick the right players and use his resources better, instead of picking poor, useless senior players.
