If he is to sell (and he has suggested that is his end game for some time) then just pray it is not to loony Russians or even crazier Italians (do we really want a Leeds or Orient scenario? Classic story on Colin Murray on Talksport today. Orient take the manager's job off Nugent because they hadn't done well in the few games he was in charge and appoint an Italian manager. After another 7 games of failure he gets the bullet and they sack him and appoint another Italian. The new guy arrives and they find out he can't speak English. As the previous guy is going out the door they say, "Hold on, don't go yet, we need you". "You can be Director of Football or as it is otherwise known in Italian, translator for the new manager". You couldn't make it up!!! Heaven forbid any Africans get mega rich and decide they want to own a football club in the UK. It will be managerial executions, not sackings.
What will tan lose exactly when he has the club as his security. He has not ploughed millions into the club at all. All he has done is loaned the club money that he has secured with assets should he decide to go. He will walk away with very little loss to himself if any at all. Whether he can find another mug to fight a lost cause will remain to be seen but dont think for one minute tan will be the loser because he wont....
Fair point Chippy - see my earlier comment about Italian owners. Mad as a box of frogs left on a lit barbeque!!!
im scarred for life thinking about them little cutie frogs screaming in pain>>>>>>>>>>>without it being a spoiler bfb ,,,,,did they all get out alive in the end
Just been told by a mate City are releasing a white 3rd kit tomorrow as Tan's homage to the Swanc. He ****ing hates City fans.
Doesnt take a rocket scientist why he hates some of the City fans. Especially the ones who follow every word of the Pied Piper on the other message board. All hail the great AA all hail. MUGS
Dai - it's difficult to talk high finance with a someone who thinks Warren Buffett is a dinner party for rabbits, but I'll have another go. Tan has already invested/parted with/spent/handed over in excess of £150M to the football club to date - in fact we are led to believe that he still supports the day to day running with additional funds on a monthly basis thus increasing the debt. Once and for all, it is not still in his bank account - how the hell can you come up with that one? A fair proportion (approx £60M) has been capitalised and therefore can only be recovered by selling his equity on, whereas something like £100M remains as loan debt. There is no doubt that he holds an all embracing debenture on all the tangible assets at the club as security, but how much do you think those assets are worth in a gone concern situation? If he did miraculously recover all his loan capital with a fire sale (which he wont by a mile), who is then going to pay him £60M for his share capital holding in a club that then didn't exist? Come on Dai - FFS give it a rest and talk about something you know about like football........Oh, hang on a minute.....
Theres only 1 way Tan gets his money back and thats promotion and staying there for a number of years. I reckon he'll try and recover a lot of debt while we have the parachute payments. There again he could increase revenue by getting rid of the red and bringing back blue. I reckon hes prepared to take a big loss. But he first needs a buyer.
Listen, Sparkey, trying to get an answer out of Dai on such subjects is a complete waste of time. I'm not sure he understands his pension let alone business finance. And as for the lotto numbers someone asked for, i doubt Dai could tell LAST week's numbers let alone next week's.
agree with hilts in that we need promotion for tan to sell, but i think once we are promoted tan will sell straight away or during the season. he can't afford to gamble that we'd stay up and invest heavily over a number of premier league seasons IMO. at the moment, he'd lose about half of what he has invested in the club if he sold us in the championship. gate receipts will be down a couple of thousand next year if we remain in the championship, and new contracts for the likes of noone and marshall plus all the new signings means a shed load of money will be lost again. one big problem we have is that tan will sell to the highest bidder, no matter what their intentions for the club are. we could quite easily get the new glazers but because they would change us back to blue, they would get the backing from the majority of the fans.
If Tan needs promotion for him to sell he could be waiting a bloody long time. The current squad and, in many eyes, the manager are not up to it. Outcome, another managerial cull and revolving door for players. hardly the settled club needed to challenge for promotion. As a pragmatic businessman he is more likely to take a loss on sale just to be able to walk away and start afresh. That being the case Swamp's last paragraph comes to life and we get some clueless Yank or a dodgy Russian (although less likely with their present financial problems) or a looney tune Italian. Not great options.
agree your not going to get promotion in a month of sundays. your not good enough for a start. Tan has 3 other clubs anyway so he can sell up and not give cardiff a second thought. His plan of making cardiff a top club has failed and that must be a gut wrenching disappointment for him and he is a man who is use to success...He is probably making plans now to make as much money as he can before he calls it a day....
I'd take a dodgy Russian, a clueless American or a loony tune Italian over a tin-pot Malaysian megalomaniac anyday.
