It looks to me Enrique moving might have implications on weather we go for N'Zogbia.

Why? They play in totally different positions, neither will be involved in any swap deal, and we don't need the money from selling Jose to sign Zog.

Hope it's resolved as soon as possible.

Wouldn't be surprised if the club tells Wigan to **** off soon as they would want to move on to someone else if it doesn't work out and stalling this long doesn't help one bit. It's exactly what we did in the Gervinho situation.

I think we do need the money from the Enrique deal to sign zog. M.A is keeping the Carroll money, so its either free agents or new money off sales to fund actual signings.

We have the money for Zog, but we dont want to be robbed. 9mil and 60k p/w is a lot to fork out, I'm fairly certain he'll go to Villa.

Even if this was true we'd need to spend money from Enrique on a replacement for him.

I think we'd have to, everyone (even the board) can see his quality and you cant skimp on a replacement (not too many bargains going around at LB). I think we'd definitely spend at least 5m on a replacement.

Anyone know what's going on with M'Bengue?

We seemed to have cooled our interest in any replacement LB's recently - maybe Pard's getting confident he WILL stay?

I think we still know he might, might just stay. If no offers were to come in (unlikely I know but we value him pretty highly) and we started the season looking like European contenders he might sign before the end of this season. Maybe.

And who would we get that was as good as Jose? He's been far and away the best LB in the league.

    I hate transfer periods.
First Jose is on his way out, then he might stay, then he is staying now he's on his way out.

It's entirely down to him really isn't it - we've shown our intent to keep him. If he wants European football he should stay to help us push for it - to me there's surely much more gratification in that. He'd be a massive boost for us towards it anyway. A LB of his quality could just be the difference.

I know it's ridiculous. So repetitive and sluggish.

The forum's definitely taken a blow too.

Simple, really. We wouldnt be able to get anyone better from the PL*. We'd have to get someone younger, who could turn out to be as good, like M'Bengue or some other unknown.

*unless we threw a lot of money trying to get Baines, which I'd like to see us do when/if Enrique leaves

Aren't the scousers and the arse both in for Baines too? If we lost Jose to one of them, we'd battle it out with the other one for Baines - and I could see him choosing them over us.

Well they would never sell to Liverpool, and Arsenal would be unlikely to meet the inflated price for an Englishman, also one of them will probs get Enrique, meaning they wouldnt need Baines. I know we probably wouldnt get him, but I dont see why we shouldnt try, we've got money left plus whatever we get for Enrique.
