Love this picture, they look genuinely happy with the situation and have forgotten about the past. Yep... okay then. The truth is in Ron's left eye.

Not sure how much truth is in this, can't really see it myself. @F1Reddit: Gutierrez to Ferrari as reserve driver http://t.co/Cdwhv2BqCN
Ron Has bought back more shares in Mclaren. http://www.forbes.com/sites/csylt/2014/12/12/mclaren-f1-team-has-been-sold-says-ecclestone/? Probably what this whole delay was really about
With Fernando Alonso’s return to the team an open secret in the paddock from October onwards, Button’s demeanour throughout the final month of the season was that of a condemned man. Despite his superior form and points-scoring, few believed that McLaren wouldn't retain the younger and cheaper Kevin Magnussen - including, it seemed, Button himself. Button’s reprieve, after weeks of deliberations and uncertainty, was only finalised on Wednesday evening, just hours before he was unveiled alongside Alonso, when he signed a two-year contract after agreeing to take a substantial pay-cut. please log in to view this image Sky Sports F1's Ted Kravitz believes McLaren have made the right decision in pairing Jenson Button and Fernando Alonso together for 2015. But while Button’s willingness to make a financial sacrifice – if, that is, signing a deal reputedly worth £8m a year can ever be described as a 'sacrifice' – sealed the deal, it appears that Dennis’ reputed preference for Magnussen over Button first began to shift when he sat down with the 2009 title winner in the immediate aftermath of the season finale. “The content of the conversations Jenson and I had prior to me signing the contract was preceded by a conversation which took place after the Abu Dhabi race. He was a very different person, both then and last night, and my concerns faded,” Dennis told Sky Sports News HQ. “There were very defined minuses [to re-signing Button] and we decided to address some of those issues and when I engaged with Jenson and went through those, some of them almost evaporated. “The decision is mine and Jenson’s destiny is in his own hands. He will get equality and, l hope, a race-winning car.”
Sounds like the age old problem, lack of communication and meaningful dialogue, all it needed was a chat, probably helped by RD regaining some autonomy.
Interesting that publicly he is saying that Jenson has equality! Then again 'everyone is equal but some are more equal than others' Hope McL and Honda do well.
Sorry if this has been posted already . Can anyone confirm if Alonso has a get out clause after 1 year ? I read that RD has said it is a 3 year deal with no early release clause for either party , though I find that hard to believe !
On another note . Who will be title sponsor ? I still think RD's arrogance has cost the team millions !!!!!!
It's a 2 year deal with an option for the 3rd year. It also has a get out clause after year 1 if the McLaren doesn't do well.
I'm convinced Mclaren are going for a vintage Red and White livery next season. I know it's hard to talk up the Honda partnership without mentioning it, but they just seem to be going slightly overboard with the amount of exposure the old livery is getting. I think it's a media campaign to firmly re-establish red and white as part of their identity/heritage. Mclaren have also tweeted that they've passed all the FIA crash tests ahead of next season. That's pretty early.
Yes, I agree. I'll be very surprised if they don't change colour because it makes a clean break with their recent, floundering past and recalls a more illustrious period in their history; and because it fits perfectly with their renewed Honda partnership while casting off the 'Silver Arrows' connotations that had their origins in their time as the Mercedes 'works' team, long since passed.
I have always liked RD, but he has made some unique and baffling decisions its true, that I didn't quite understand, however he is a multi-millionaire and I am most certainly not !!!! about says it all don't it.
DH, not wishing to appear pedantic, but the original McLaren colour was solid Orange, around the late 60s moving to White with Orange stripe, and later in the 70s to White with Red stripe in line with their tobacco sponsor . Really looking forward to next season whatever the colour scheme, fortunately the colour of the paint has zero effect on the car performance, or has it ???.
