Would that be the defence that has let in 3 goals in the last 5 games including Arsenal and Southampton, both of which actually have strikers and midfields?
We've only conceded 4 in our last 5 games. And we are ****ing awful, so I'm not sure that says anything positive about your defence. Its more a reflection on the poor quality of finishing by Southampton, Arsenal etc.
We haven't conceded many because a) we have slightly better players in those defensive positions (Kolo and Lucas) and b) we've played easy teams. Against Basel, Lucas was shown up as he does against most decent teams. Whilst he's the best player we have in the DM role, that's not to say he's any good. Rodgers has to realise we don't have a good defensive set up - well we do if we play Manquillo, Sakho Toure and Moreno, with Can in front of them but he won't. So he might as well build an attack based on movement and speed. I genuinely think we can win if Rodgers has the balls to play the team I suggest. If not, then we won't get anything out of the game.
L Lucas can only play as a DM if he's the only one, adding Gerrard/Allen/anyone else just casuses problems. When he's on his own he's good.
He's not that good mate. He makes a lot of tackles but see how many of those he actually wins combined with how easily is bypassed. He's an average player. There is a reason why we dropped him for most of last season. We really need to move on and buy a proper DM ASAP. I rather we stick Can in the DM role - he's played there a number of times. Rodgers needs to take risks and trust the players he has at his disposal.
Where did I say he was anything other than good? Just saying he's at his best when he's alone at DM, anyone else joining him causes problems.
