Kasper Schmeichel: Leicester goalkeeper breaks metatarsal

Leicester City goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel will undergo surgery after he was ruled out for at least a month with a broken metatarsal.
The Denmark international, 28, suffered the blow in training on Thursday and will have an operation on Friday.
Second-choice keeper Ben Hamer will deputise in their Premier League clash with Manchester City at the weekend.
"An optimistic view for Kasper would be four to six weeks, but it could be longer," said Foxes boss Nigel Pearson.
"It's very unfortunate, clearly the lad is distressed about it and he will be a miss for us but, again, you have to deal with it. We can't change it."
Schmeichel, who signed a new four-year contract with Leicester in the summer, joined the Foxes from Leeds United in June 2011.

He was in goal for Charlton last November at the match I attended and only Charlie's crackerjack shot got past him.

Hamer played a decent game and was MOM for Charlton with a score of 8 (ditto for Charlie).

Also in that match, "a Shaun Wright-Phillips effort that cannoned against the cross bar"

"Marmite Figure Joey Barton started to exert his influence as the match went on, however. The midfielder was tasked with dispatching a 20-yard free-kick and curled his low effort round the wall towards the far post. Hamer impressed again, though, acrobatically palming the effort around the post."

Overrated anyway. Would be nothing if his name wasn't Schmeichel.

I thought he did very well for them against us at Loftus Road at the end of last month.

Me too - he kept the score down for them, as Rob Green did for us.
