The Club wishes to offer a sincere apology after problems with our turnstile entry system led to delays in gaining entry to the KC Stadium at Saturdayâs game against West Bromwich Albion. Technical issues with two turnstiles unfortunately created a backlog which, combined with a later than usual walk-up after 2.30pm, caused some supporters to miss kick-off. We will be working with our partners to address the issues with our turnstile technology and to put in place a contingency plan should a technical failure occur again in the future, and respectfully ask fans who were delayed getting into the ground on Saturday to arrive a little earlier for our home game against Swansea City on 20th December as we seek to avoid a repeat. We would also like to thank those supporters affected on Saturday for their patience in the circumstances. http://www.hullcitytigers.com/news/article/an-apology-2136950.aspx#bBFWtzeccUhRH6RX.99
On thing they should do is have a little card slot attached to the bottom so you dont get people faffing about trying to get the barcode in the wrong place. Just in and out. My turnstile was one of the ones going wrong, or it at least wouldn't accept my card anyway.
A short sharp electric shock to the passholder if they can't place the card on the reader in the correct position at the first attempt. How many times does it take for some people to get it right ?
I wonder if the club kept the receipt for the system that was installed ? I think they must have gone for the cheapest option
I was thinking that, most other grounds with scanner systems have a slot where you put your ticket in and it opens the turnstile, you're through in no time and there's no room for error, what's with ours with the big laser pattern on the shelf? I can see why it confuses some people.
It's good that they've apologised and that they want the technical issues fixing, but it doesn't solve the problem of the entire North stand being serviced by just 4 turnstiles, so we have massive queues every week anyway.
Your logic is approaching the insulting mentality expected of hooligans; have you not read his CV ffs, no one can tell him he has got something wrong, it's you ****ers turning up late, just as you have for years .. . . . oops!
In the case of the guy in front of me, 4 or 5 attempts until I intervened and told him to turn his card over and line up the barcode in accordance with the detail next to the scanner. An obvious error from my point of view, but if you get say 1 in 5, or 1 in 10 getting it wrong there's your delay, none of this 'later than usual walk-up after 2.30pm' bollocks.
I do find this suggestion that people are turning up too late irritating. Make the concourse somewhere people want to be if you want people to come earlier. And as Fez says, people have been turning up at kickoff time since the stadium opened. Anyway, is it a fairly sincere apology overall which is nice. We just need a few from Assem now.
So they're basically saying...."sorry that one or two of our scanners conked out,but if you'd got here a bit earlier you wouldn't have missed the kick off,so it's your own fault"
I got the impression it was more than two turnstiles, but I could be wrong. The allegation from some is that the system's undersized, so if they had a better scanning system, it'd overload. Could be bollocks, but then some of the other answers have been contradictory. If it was just two, it makes it a nonsense restricting people to a specific turnstile block as they have.
^^^This The majority of delays were down to idiots not understanding how to use a simple barcode system.
That as an answer just isn't good enough. It doesn't happen at other grounds and at our ground its getting worse every week since this automated system was introduced. The club have in fact admitted a technical error. Hopefully it'll be resolved asap.
I was in the south stand on Saturday, it was the first time they'd used the new unmanned system and it's the first time I've ever had to queue.
They apologise then add the standard 'get out of jail' caveat...in this instance the larger than anticipated late arrivals after 2.30pm!!! Just apologise, or don't bother!
i noticed the long queues going past south stand and east , but thankfully t6 was fine and had only 2 or 3 people at it .
