Brendan will play it safe like he did midweek in a game we had to win. This is just the start of a nightmare week for us in my opinion.
I wouldn't play him. I'd go with something like... Migs Mankiller - Lovren - Toure - Moreno Lucas Hendo - - - Can Sterling Lambert - Borini Tell Borini to look to get in behind at every opportunity whilst Lambert keeps the CBs busy. Get Sterling making runs, getting into space and running at their defenders when he has the ball. I'd be wanting to introduce Coutinho and Markovic at some point too. Skrtel has been worse than Lovren so I've dropped him instead. Lovren might player better with someone organising him too, we've not seen that yet.
Markovic gave a new lease of life to a stale formation on Tuesday and Coutinho is the one creative talent we have. As for Lovren I cannot see why we are persisting with him. As I said earlier we are fortunate the mancs are playing even ****ter than us.
I agree that 2 up top could work. Lambert bringing the ball down to someone. There are a hell of a lot of different line-ups we could all put forward - tells you something doesn't it?!
i dunno what you lot are posting this crap for... me i'd just apporach atkinson, remind him how hateful ferguson was and how many insults utd threw at him then give him 50k to throw the game... thats the only way lfc are winning this.
Don't forget utd play a 5-3-2 with Young and Valencia as wing backs, so surely Markovic and Sterling should be playing out wide to attack the spaces behind?
Attack may be the best form of defence for us. Their weakest area is at the back so we should make sure we have enough up top. Not just Lambert who should get out marked/fought reasonably easy. People assume he's a big lump who heads it - actually he is not. We need pace.
Ha, almost mate! For me - the United game can be the watershed moment for Rodgers. Similar to Spurs away last season. That's when we realised you need to let the players play, without the shackles. He's been doing the same thing for 4 months - if he cannot see the changes, especially after the atrocious performance against Basel, then he'll never see it. It's the point in a managers tenure where he just doesn't see things and becomes massively stubborn. We saw the same with Rafa and Kenny.
no no that makes far too much sense.. don't be silly saying stuff like that. rodgers will pick all central players and try to mark RvP with a blind shepard he pulled off the wooleyback mountains he came from.
We're gonna get mullered. BR will play it safe like he did on Tuesday (Which means playing tripe like Johnson, Skrtel and Gerrard.)
Play like the last 20 minutes against Basel. Even though we had 10 men, we had movement and more threat than i've seen all season. We can't defend either way, if we try to shut up shop, we'll be lost and concede anyway! Utd have a soft belly, you never know, we might edge it 4-3. Not holding my breath
Completely agree with that. The shackles were off and we played football. Almost like last season with '**** defending' attitude. May as well do that considering we can't defend when caring about it
It's easier to have possession and attack when the opposition sit back and defend. Which is why Gerrard only excels later on in the match. Completely invisible for majority of the match.
We've only played that once this season. And that was a disaster waiting to happen but thankfully we were lucky. Previous games (at home) we've played them two in a back 4.
That's a bit of history being rewritten. Up to the point Gerrard scored from a free kick, the shackles were well and truly on. The goal, and therefore the idea of being back in the game and needing one more to qualify, is what caused Liverpool to finally attack like mofo's. Without the Gerrard free kick, the team's performance in the last 15 mins would have been the same as the first 75.
Your last game against Southampton was a back 5 of Valencia, McNair, Smalling, Rojo and Young Against Arsenal a few weeks back you played Valenica, McNair, Smalling, Blackett and Shaw I would say thats more than once and thats only looking at your last 4 games...
More than a few analysts praised Stevie's overall performance v Basel. Some claimed he carried us to the brink of victory on his own. Unfortunately, this board weighs Stevie the same whether he's DM or AM. Blindly.
