As long as he doesn't bitch about us ahead of the game, like Ramos did when we drew Dnipro last season.
He wasn't loved nor hated, it was just his brand of football wasn't good enough. I think people will treat the game like any other (if we did draw them), without any positive or negative chanting towards AVB.
Quite complicated! The 12 group winners and the 4 best qualifiers from the CL get seeded. It is not yet certain whether either team will be seeded. So there is a good chance that the probability of drawing them is zero. If one is seeded and one not the probability is about one in ten I think.
CL dropouts are Anderlecht Olympiakos Zenit Liverpool Likely to be joined by Ajax Schalke Bilbao City/Roma/CSKA Not sure on rankings but these would be the seedings I would assume Ajax Schalke Anderlecht Any one from City group
http://kassiesa.home.xs4all.nl/bert/uefa/data/method4/trank2015.html Is your friend on such matters. So on paper ... Schalke, Zenit, Citeh, Olympiakos, Ajax, CSKA, Sporting, Bilbao, Anderlecht
Even Roma are way down! Might be better to be second, especially as we cannot face City if they end up in the competition.
Lose tomorrow and we could face Zenit in the next round. Would like to clock up as many points this season as possible given the 24 from our CL campaign get wiped off the slate at the start of next season. So at least try to make the next round easy.
Walker's on the plane, as he's posed for pictures with Stambouli and Rose for the social media sites. It would be nice to have him back to full fitness very soon, but I hope that they don't rush it. No idea what our options are for this game. I would like to see some of our important players rested entirely, but I've no idea who's actually fit. We seem to have a fairly long injury list at the moment, which gets completely ignored by the media, while they bang on about one or two missing from other clubs.
If he's flown he must be in contention surely. Why fly him across europe when he could be rehabbing back at the training ground otherwise?
The Standard are saying/speculating/guessing that both Harry Winks and Josh Onomah will travel with the squad.
I don't think its the ranking that determines the seeding, I think its the number of points and then goal difference in the CL group. So Zenith can be in the top four or not depending on tonight's results.
http://www.tottenhamhotspur.com/news/besiktas-away-team-news-101214/ We've left Vertonghen, Kane, Mason, Bentaleb, Eriksen and Naughton at home which surely strongly implies that they're pretty much nailed on to start at the weekend. It certainly seems that Walker will get minutes and two youth players going on the trip is nice to see. Winks has already made his debut hasn't he? It'd be nice to see him and Onomah get game time.
You'd always rather win than lose, but this is a case where our starters need a break, if at all possible, and losing may result in a better draw than winning. So it's time to start whoever looks like they could use game time, and rest everyone who figures to start this weekend--especially as Besiktas are a good team, who have shown they can beat anyone at home.
Looking at the squad I'd like to see: Vorm Walker, Chiriches, Dier, Rose Paulinho, Stambouli, Winks Lamela, Soldado, Chadli. I expect Dembele and Kaboul will be played though
