I have never felt confident playing Pool, even with Fergie`s best teams. We are their game of the season, cup final etc and they play up to this. Any team can win a one off game when it is all they have to play for.

Yeh I know what you mean but the situation at the moment is beginning to resemble the period of around 2004 to 2008, when we were rebuilding and strengthening while Liverpool's squad was looking vulnerable and a level or two below ours. I remember they couldn't even buy a goal against us during that period and I sense the same now. In those first couple of years, our defence was weak, our midfield was going through upheaval, but we had emerging talent attacking wise as well as tried and tested seniors. In so many ways I see the same comparisons and feel the same confidence I did then....

...ofcourse we'll probably lose now I've said that <laugh>

With the players we have (compared to them), the way we are playing (compared to them), the manager we have (compared to them) and the fact we are at home, it should be a routine win. On the other hand life has a way of kicking you in the balls when you least expect it <laugh>

I feel the other way around, UTD should always beat them (last year excluded)

    Always expect to beat pool.

They never beat us without a massive helping hand. 3 penalties in a game, player sent off etc etv.

    Bad news is atkinson.

Amazing that Atkinson has been given the gig. Could have been worse. Which game has Friend got this weekend? That guy is ****ing clueless.

Not exactly, I've watched you a few times this season and you have been terrible on most occasions. In the past you've played well and beaten teams with attacking football and then got lucky on the odd occasion or ground out a result. At the moment you are generally poor and grinding out results and also being very lucky.

There's a big difference between the two managers.

We were dire for fergies last 3 season tbh. Performance wise anyway.

Van gaal has one game where we are terrible and win and ots shocked so many.

If we are generally poor now then god help the rest of the league when we do hit form...

There's no papering over it or hiding the fact we were dreadful on Monday. Awful.

The only plus points were the result and that rvp seems to have found his finishing boots.

Sunday is at home though so I expect a whole load better and a sensible selection. I always assume that game v Liverpool will be **** though so I'm expecting another ground out result if anything.

Going back to the Arsenal game though, as this was identified as one of our poor/lucky performances. Yes, they could/should have had a couple early on but once we got settled and sorted we were a proper menace on the counter attack. It certainly should have been three with the Di Maria miss (a million miles from being anywhere near a greatest ever United line up by the way) and possibly more.

If we play like that more often I'll be happy. We kept the ball for a start.

Again you're misreading me. I haven't mentioned injuries, I'm simply stating that you are currently playing poorly despite picking up points. I reckon you're in a minority if you think you're the most dominant team in the league <laugh>.

UIR is the astro of the United board so don't expect anything else Drogs. Chief, Treble, Custard and Diego though are far more rounded posters and i'm happy for them United are doing well (as long as they don't let the scousers back into the Champs League Spot, i'm enjoying this Liverpool meltdown).

I have been shocked at the United away form, Van Gaal has them grinding out wins playing defensive football (see number of shots you've had) although i guess that beats getting draws/losses which has been happening all year. Their home form though has been very good and he's got them playing well there

    Agree with this.

The other thing about this weird United side is that it is in transition. It is learning to live with LVG. Make no mistake he needs getting used to. He is unpredictable and that can be a plus sometimes.

I do not think people should ignore or forget that the defence has been make shift for most of that period. Yes it can be used as an excuse but it is fact. And there has been chopping and changing. I don't think (I hope I am right) LVG would have wanted to do that if he had a full squad.

After the events of the last few weeks, I can say anything can happen. We could go to Chelsea and give a crap performance and get points and we could do the same against the lower teams and lose points.

The thing that LVG gives is hope that things could improve. I personally think we are performing well below acceptable levels and that we should/must have >50% improvement.

Compared to DM or any other manager under pressure, he is not flustered and does not give signs of panic or desperation. I admire him for saying that he is going to stick with the defenders he has. Whether he ACTUALLY stick to that remains to be seen but he does not want to give reasons for his players to underperform.

    That's us f**ing jinxed then...<laugh>

I always go into a match expecting to beat them. 4-0 at OT and especially at Anfield would be great but I'll take a scrappy 1-0 any time.

Its just opta, sky sports, bbc football etc etc who agree with me. So yeh, a minority.

Technically we are. Especially the past 5 games since carricks return.

God you do sound EXACTLY like Astro! I bet he could conjure up some stats to make Liverpool look brilliant this season.

If you truly believe United have been the most dominant team in the league and aren't fishing then you do have a screw loose <laugh>

Oh and drogs, some city ****** thinks by calling me metth he is being clever. He's not. Nor is calling me astro... Thats just down right offensive.

I wouldnt even know where to begin with twitter or graphs.

I say it as i see it. You clearly base your opinions on whats said in the press and not done on tye pitch... Im respect to united.

You can't use stats to make this a factual argument UIR. Most level headed people on here have admitted you've been poor.

You're trying to look good on a technicaliteh!

I base my opinions on actually watching football. I don't consider myself bias in that I will give teams credit when it's due.
