No. If managers were sacked on the back of a few fans booing then the managerial merry go round would be even worse than it is now. It's credit to Arsenal that they don't panic when things aren't going according to plan.
Toon fan in peace... Wenger is a good manager but I think he may have taken you as far as he can. You were a huge club 10 years ago but I think since then you have just become a good club. Your board should have made the change a few years ago but because of their inaction you are stuck with a manager whose tactics are stuck in a decade ago. It seems that nobody at your club has the bollocks to say to Wenger, "thanks for all your time but its time to go!" He was a great manager but football has moved on, wheras Wenger has not!! Can not wait to play you this weekend, it could be fun!! We are 6-1 to beat you, that seems a very tasty bet!!! XXX
there's no point sacking him mid-season. we wouldn't be able to get a replacement, plus with the amount of time Wenger's had at the club, another manager would need a whole summer, pre-season, plus probably extra time to get the team working properly.
In football we scream there's a lack of loyalty shown crying when rvp, adebayor, clichy left us wenger has shown us loyalty over the years turning down many big clubs I think it's only fair for what he has done for us to honour his contract all though I wouldn't renew it
yeah its always good to judge a managers suitability on the last 90 minutes . If you look at Wengers success record for the last 24 hours its pretty impressive. 100 per cent . go back 5 days and it drops to 50 per cent though. do yourself a favour , dont go back 10 years. ps ..will this perfectly rational post get me another ban ?
I suppose we can moan here and there but calling for his head now is pretty pointless if you think about it rationally. Wait until the tail end of the season. If we are no where in the league come April/May and knocked out of all the cups, then protest. This is the best time to do it. Doing it now will only lead to lowering morale and jeopardising a potential Champions league spot. Personally, he has to go this season regardless of what happens. It would be a big mistake in my point of view if we don't start looking for change now. Look around for another manager now and then give Wenger a proper send off. I don't see the point of waiting for things to get even more worse, we should be looking to improve things. I can't see Wenger winning either the league or Champions league. So whats the point of persevering? We are good enough to get top 4 with our current players with a competent manager.
What a silly comment. I'm the last to want him gone but in fairness to the angry fans this resentment has been building for the last few years. Unless your comment was tongue-in cheek, in which case sure, why not?!
It was tongue in cheek - to an extent. I just feel that Wenger gets slated (even before the match) and then gets no credit afterwards when we won. Fair enough to criticise, but you have to give a balance also
We have to wait until the end of the Season at the very earliest. There's no doubt we have a very good squad here and Wenger has made some amazing signings: Ramsey for £5 Million - How much is he worth now?? Walcott for £10 Million - again surely worth over £30m in todays market. Koscielny for £10 Million Carzorla for £15 Million Wellbeck £16 Million Sanchez for £35 Million - its a lot of money but he's worth every penny. From an attacking and creative perspective our squad is full of quality. Ozil, Sanchez, Wellback, Carzorla, Walcott, Ramsey,Wilshere, Podolski etc.. It's clear Wenger is still doing some things very well. The real question though is why we ALWAYS have glaring holes in our squad that seems obvious to everyone except Wenger. Why we always make the same mistakes and why our approach is always the same?
It's frustrating as hell. Why we didn't buy a DM and a CB is a mystery and I agree that the one dimensional plan of attack is found out too often. But I still have to say that Wenger is getting more right at Arsenal than he is wrong and I don't agree that he should go. Not unless, that is Arsenal can find somebody even better, but the reality is, for all his flaws Wenger is still one of the best out there.
What makes it even more annoying is that I think our problems in attack are linked to our absence of a strong presence in CM/DM and the fact we didn't strengthen in defence. As a result ramsey/wilshere can't push up as much (or they do push up but frequently get caught out), we cant steal the ball high up the pitch and exploit space at pace, we can't keep pressure on teams because of this, our attacking players have to be concious of suddenly needing to track back at pace, and our fullbacks aren't settled or confident that the CBs and DM have them covered.
