Man Utd have a few players featuring in the Copa America, so I was wondering whether anyone was going to be following the tournament much? The Man Utd players taking part in the tournament are Fabio and Rafael Da Silva, Valencia and Anderson. I only today found out that Hernandez won't be featuring for Mexico. I'm a bit disappointed as I would like to see how he got on but at least he should be more refreshed for the new season with Man Utd. Valenica picked up a knock in Equador's opening match with with Paraguay and is likely to miss their next match. The injury was to the same ankle he broke last September which will be a worry to Sir Alex.
Yep a knock to the ankle he injured last September. Don't know how serious it is but he will probably miss their next match apparently.
Are you sure our Brazillians are competing? Got a feeling they aren't. Otherwise I've looked quite an idiot saying how good Anderson will be next season after finally having a full pre-season (no injuries or International callups) with us for the 1st time in his United career.
I think they are in the Brazil Copa America squad, not sure if they will play but some of the teams do try out their youngsters in the Copa America.
Seems my hunch was correct. http://www.manutd.com/en/News-And-Features/Football-News/2011/Jun/Reds-trio-miss-Brazil-cut.aspx
Ah damn. So Hernandez, the Da Silvas and Anderson all miss out while Valencia picked up an inury in his Country's opening match
I don't think it's such a bad thing with Hernandez. He was probably eager to play against better opposition than he faced in the Gold Cup but with how much he has played you never know when/if he will the wall and have an injury. With Valencia, it's the same ankle that he broke against Rangers, just praying that this sprain is nothing serious. The twins will have their time for Brazil. Can't do much with the likes of Dani Alves and Maicon just to name two full back ahead of them. Anderson is an interesting one. It's not as if Brazil have a shortage of players that play in the Anderson position but I'm glad he isn't picked because he will have a full pre season.
Um why are you all so shocked about United players not featuring at the CA ? It's brilliant news for the club, they'll be more fresh for the new season and less likely to pick up injuries. The injury to Valencia shows exactly why it's better if the players don't play for their country.
