Personally I think that unbeaten side were phenomenal and rate it as the greatest achievement in english football. Everyone will have their differing opinions
You just have to watch the quality of the football to decide who the 'greatest' premier league team was. I've never seen another team (in England at least) that regularly had the game wrapped up in 20-30 mins. I also think the invisibles were the perfect mix of technical and athletic.
Treble is certainly better than going unbeaten in the league. As an achievement simply because the treble involves the best teams in Europe. Whereas the "invincibles" involve only the domestic clubs. As many had pointed out before, such teams could even go through the season with many draws and not win the league itself. Whilst that arsenal team was undoubtedly a great team and certainly the best during that season, the invincible tag must be qualified. Even in the domestic scene, they were only invincible in the league as they were beaten in the various domestic cups. "Unbeaten in the league" is not quite invincible, is it?
The bit in bold intrigued me as it wasn't what I remembered at all. My recollection of the unbeaten season was that they drew a lot of games and edged quite a lot of wins so I checked. 12 draws and 13 wins by a single goal. Not sure how many times they blew the opposition away in the other 13 games!
