The US have been in more than 2 wars over the last 35 years (since Vietnam).

They haven't really 'lost' against the Taliban, they've just blown so much stuff up they can't really see the point anymore. BL is gone so that's one problem out the way, and it's an unwinable war, but they definitely haven't got 'their arses kicked'.

    sorry to disappoint B

    I didnt mean literally

USA trips to India etc are to tap into their markets as they are the growing industrial powers
Silicone valley (no not tits) in india houses CIA files etc

without China and India investing countries will struggle further, so a lot of ass kissing and cock sucking

If you used the death count as a score, then America are well in front.

depends though, from all the reports they have killed loads of people but like in Iraq (twice) its a lot of civilians and british troops (friendly fire)

Also depends if you believe what they tell you

IMO if th etaliban become part of the government and nothing changes (as what this war was supposed to be about) then surely they have repelled the enemy and ultimately won?

I've read a lot of negative stuff concerning the status of the United States. Sure a lot of us got "dragged" into Korea, Vietnam, Iraq, Afghanistan and the like, but the US is more than just a war monger. The very fact that we can sit here blogging is pretty much down to them. I'm sure that anyone with thirty minutes of Google time up their sleeve, could list no end of great things that have come out of the USA. We decry the US entertainment industry, but over the years, how many US tv shows have we watched? How much of their music have listened to? And these are just the tip of the iceberg.

And should we mention the Second World War?

One of the common criticisms made about the population of the US is that they know nothing about what happens outside of their own country. I think the same could be said of some people in every country in the world. I know a fair few people here whose interest in current affairs does not extend beyond who will be the panel on the X factor. If you look at the mass circulation newspapers they're not exactly top heavy on what's going on around the world unless it's to make us look better than those damned silly foreigners.

You're quite right Chippy, most of any population know bugger all about their own country. They might know their Prime Minister or President, but when it comes to who's on the front bench, they have no idea. You'd be surprised at the number of people who know next to nothing outside their own neighbourhood, other than the trivia picked up on tv.

Throw in the fact that America is the size of Europe and the criticism is rendered further moot. Some complain that the average yank couldn't point to, say, Scotland on a map. Could you point to Mississippi, or even Lithuania, for that matter?

A lot of people take a pop at the states for the hell of it. They see something that doesn't agree with them, and they use that to slam the whole country. Whether we like them or not, we wanted them on our side when the Iron Curtain was in place. And quite frankly, who would you want as a ally, China (who are showing no war like behavior) or the US? We might not like the crap they keep dragging us into, but if the **** hit's the fan, the US is the country you want standing alongside you.
