We haven't the depth...we are better than last season, but a couple of injuries reveal our weaknesses. In a way we are victims of our success, we have been so high that a fall to fifth can induce gnashing of teeth. I'm sure that once we get Spider, Cork and Toby back, we will start picking up points again. We have afew more tough games coming up, then we hit an easier spell again. It's important that we are ready for then.

The bottom line is though that Manure mugged us like we were a pensioner in Piccadilly Gardens.....

We played extremely well. We made individual mistakes that's all. This formation worked great for us today and we should try it again against a big club.

Right, managed not to find out the score and finally watched the game. Not read your comments yet, but here are my thoughts -

The Good:

1 - we're a decent team
2 - Vic was immense once again
3 - hats off Maya Yoshida, did nothing wrong
4 - nice to see Hesketh get a run out
5 - Clyne
6 - welcome back Dušan, we've missed you

The Bad

1 - how the hell did we not get anything from that?
2 - Mané was amazing, in that he made me wish Mayuka was playing
3 - ...then Mayuka came on...
4 - we really aren't getting much luck right now
5 - the curse of RVP continues
6 - Fellaini is a tit.

Right, now to read what you lot thought.

Oh, I thought Pelle looked like he was getting back to his form again. Blimey, some of the reactions here! And MMJ, you really shouldn't write things like that - you may think RVP is a c**t, but it's you that looks like one when you say things like that I'm afraid.

It was a good performance to create so many chances, we are just not clinical enough by far.

I thought the ref was dire, certainly more their Friend than ours. BBC 5live said we were lucky to have eleven players left on the pitch, didn't see so those as I left 5 mins before to start my long sad journey back to Derby, but Both Felliani and Rojo were using their arms to block and foul all game

The thing that really pisses me off is that the BBC today talked about Falcao being injured and never mentioned once that we have lost our spine through injuries. Our bench was so young and inexperienced. No mention of that.

As Ronald said pre-game, the main issue is that (like last season) all our injuries are in the same position.

Got up this morning to read the match reports (game kicked off at midnight here - no chance of watching with work today). I have read in the better papers that we were mugged; Utd were woeful and we failed to make our superiority count? Does that seem a fair assessment?

I'm not really buying that excuse. Davis and Wanyama had good games. We need to make more of our chances and openings. And the big one, stop making individual errors leading to goals.

I've never seen blow so many chances, said to my mate we would lose at half time as we were not taking them. We could of had 5 goals last night if not for incompetent.

I've not read the thread yet, but will later. (The bring back Boruc thread was enough).

I'm actually proud of the team. Yes, we should have won the game comfortably and still can't quite believe we lost to a very poor United side, but it is also testament to how far we have come. We outplayed United with three key players missing. For the entire game, they only had two decent players and that was the front two and that niggle was always there. We have finished those three games and unfortunately come away with nothing. **** happens.

Bring on Burnley and Sheff Utd.

This. We've been beaten well by Man City but matched Arsenal for 90+ minutes and should have beaten United. Most of us would have been over the moon to be top 6 at Christmas.

Two chances well taken by Rvp. 2 golden chances missed by Shane Long.
Work ethic gets you so far but goals win games. Stay in the hunt til end of Jan and we will be much better when Jrod comes back.
