Let's not meltdown we deserved something from 2 of the 3.

 

But we're so good at it?

 

He scored every shot he had, no? Or near enough. Makes him the deadliest player on the pitch in a sea of poor performances. Says more about other players than him or big club bias.

 

Not quite sure how we conspired to lose that!! Like many have said, Man Utd were a shambles and got seriously lucky. We need more confidence up front and some composure in the final third. Mane got lots of things wrong, but he was also a thorn in their side for much of the time, think a few people are being harsh (though I take the point that his touch at times was woeful). Wanyama was fantastic all night I thought.

 

Basically, we should have had four points minimum out of those last three games. Last two were against poor teams. If they all had paper bags on their heads and wore unbranded shirts, you would have them down as bottom half teams.

 

Deserving at the end of the day means very little. Just so deflated, none of our midfielders can cross or take set pieces. Bloody laughable!

 

It's not luck at all - it happens all the time. Way too many times for it to be about luck. It's about having world class strikers for one. And it's about us allowing world class players who have been anonymous all season to recover their glory.

 

Quite pissed off by that and results don't usually bother me.

Not sure what to make of Forster. He was fantastic against Arsenal but I think he could have done more for both goals tonight. Boruc would have come for the second one and would have done his usual charge and starfish for the first. Might not have stopped it, but I think he'd have made things harder for van Persie than Forster did.

 

I agree with you, but the two gifted goals would have been irrelevant if we had just finished a couple more of our chances. So Man U were incredibly lucky, but I mean their defence not their attack. They were completely shambolic at the back but we just couldn't get the ball in the net.

 

That's not luck though, that's down to our inability to convert chances, play the easy pass or just shoot to be honest. Guilty of all of those above quite a few times.

 

No idea how we won that one but thats what robin van persie can do.

You guys must hate hos guts though. Stuff of nightmares.

On the chin though chaps. You're still doing great and making everyone look like fools.

 

Anyone who thinks Southampton are going to just fall away are smoking something. You guys just lacked a cutting edge tonight BUT you won't next time. The only reality check is for the other 19 teams. I'm glad/relieved we got the 3 points bcos of what it means for us. But I wish you well

 

I said in our match thread that our saving grace was the fact you overdid it sometimes.

 

A bit of perspective though, people. We're 5th in the Premier League in our 3rd season back at this level & in cup quarter final.

Injuries will clear up, & our worst spell of fixtures have been shifted. Now to bounce back. We are still having a great season.

 

All right, they were lucky that our front 3 were all off their game. There is no doubt that we should have had 3 or 4 tonight, and we can't afford to squander those chances. Their defence was complete ****e tonight and we should have ripped them to shreds.
