I used champix four years ago and went from 30 a day to nothing after the twelve weeks of taking it. Miracle drug in my opinion but is not recommended for people with a history of mental health problems. I did not suffer any side effects. Good luck quitting, it saves you a fortune.

I quit after 20 years 9 months ago. My advice is to go cold turkey and never smoke another *** again (don't go having "just one" down the pub). After 3 difficult weeks you'll be over it and will seldom think about smoking again.

Benefits are hard to guage but after 9 months I no longer cough up phlegm in the morning, don't get as much out of breath running up flights of stairs, my skin is no longer blotchy and I no longer get funny pains in my chest.

Shame though as it will take you longer to die...

Could you do anything else to make up for it?

Cold turkey is the only way. All the other ways mean you don't wanna quit and if you don't wanna quit then you won't.
A good friend of mine has kept Nicorette in business for many years and yet still smokes 'only when I'm out on the beer/for a meal/ breathing'.
You simply have to want to.
I started at about 8 casually, smoked seriously from about 13 and stopped at 17. I started agin at 21 and then finally had enough at about 33. Haven't smoked for about 10 years and don't miss it.
But, you really have to want to stop.
