Discussion in 'Liverpool' started by Jimmy Squarefoot, Dec 7, 2014.

  1. True. Up to press, Southampton should be named in all three sections too.

You're forcing me to bring out my trump card.

    Kleberson! I choose you!

  5. Its going to be seriously embarrassing if we claim they have a better attack than us <laugh>

  6. I'm stuck for choice now. Would you like Joe Cole or Alberto Aquilani...?

  9. I could keep going but I suspect I'm going to lose since I can think of a lot more Man Utd players than Liverpool for this <laugh>

Just shows how wasteful you guys have been over the years, you've out ****ted us <yikes>

I think you could think of plenty - you haven't even exhausted Benitez' efforts yet. You still have Jovanovic, Voronin, Keane, Gonzalez and Morientes to go before that barrel is even close to being fully scraped. There's Nigel Clough, Stan Collymore and Crocodile Dundee up that sleeve somewhere, and don't forget Carroll, Downing, Big Time Charlie and 90% of the players Rodgers has signed ;)

And if you get really desperate, just whip out Jimmy Carter and Paul Stewart <whistle>

Still more likely to put a shot 30 yards wide though too

  12. That one is harsh. He and Fowler were the top partnership in England in their first season, he got 28 goals in 64 games for us too, that's not far off a goal every other game as a supporting striker.

He is one player that really frustrated me. He had pace, power, strength, was good with both feet and his head, was able to score and assist equally, etc. He had all the hallmarks to be a great player but he prefer "other activities" and his attitude stank more than a pig farm!!!

I think most of our problems are stemming from the attack... We've an entire team of players who want to play an early pass to a mobile striker and then go for the next phase. Like vs Spurs - fast and effective.

Problem is only Sturridge can play that way.

We lose the ball in attack, it comes straight back at the defence. Teams are playing a few metres higher vs us now.

EDIT: Just on what Swarbs is saying... Saw today that Djemba-Djemba has said Fergie regretted not signing him later in his career... when he was retired maybe? <laugh>

Fair enough - it is largely a matter of perceptions with a player like that. When you break the British transfer record, people tend to expect a record breaking player, and judge them accordingly.

Same with Berbatov - his record of 48 goals in 108 is actually slightly better than Collymore's, and I think he got around 20 assists as well plus a Golden Boot. But the fee and expectations will always lead to the perception that he was a flop, or at the very best a qualified success.

    Bit harsh...but still quite fair.

I think D-D was one of those ones like Forlan - a good player with plenty of talent who failed to make the step up at quite a young age. Both of them did well when they moved out of the spotlight and expectations, although obviously Forlan did a heck of a lot better!

  16. We got £7m back on Collymore so he only cost us £1.5m really <whistle> #maths

I see Berbatov as a success tbh. He's not the sort of player I like or want to see at Liverpool because he's lazy but I thought he was harshly dropped at Man Utd.

  17. Like Moreintes, Forlan just didn't suit England.

    Talent > Hard work

  19. That's where we differ :)

You can have all the talent in the world but if the other teams works harder you'll struggle.

If you're playing more than one team it's harder anyway.
