    3 hips? Kinell.

I'm with Chazz, it's great reading about other people's misfortunes but I seriously hope I never have these stones.

My wife had her first last Wednesday and is already cheesed off before the main rehabilitation starts. The thought of 3 is mind-boggling!

Drink enough water and you won't get kidney stones, simple really.

If it was really that simple, yes drinking water helps, but not much, stones are mostly calcium based, it's all about what ph your body makes urine.

And the ph your body makes urine is largely dependant on how much water your drink, calcium stones are due to highly alkaline urine and a concentration of calcium and oxalate, drinking enough water lowers the ph significantly and reduces the concentration of calcium and oxalate, making it very hard to develop kidney stones.

i pee every 2 hours during the night and hardly at all during the day cos of work.
i was told cherry juice works wonders which i tried at breakfast time [05:30 for me] all it did was make me feel queezy.
olive oil is supposed to help ease the buggers through as well.dont take a tablespoon full like i did and............well guess the rest!!

Yes indeed, however I drink a lot of water, always have but why is it me that has so many kidney stones? My urologist ( piss doctor ;) ) says that simply some people make stones some don't, although if you don't drink about 2 litres a day you aren't helping.

Good thread, it made me find some Stone Breaker tea bags <cheers>

Update. Went to have an X-ray as recommended and the go told me I had "a queue of stones waiting in my kidneys and sent me to an expert. The expert showed me the queue of stones in my kidneys. Which are actually calcium spots on my pelvis, which is quite normal. How the **** can a go confuse as pelvis with a kidney. Anyway it turns out I am clear and going back to cent parcs next week
