After the Bullard debacle you can't blame them being careful.

Easy to be wise in hindsight, it was just one of those things.

Well, Charlie Austin is probably bigger than us so it's probably the right way round?

I wouldn't be surprised if he scores more goals than our entire team this season with the way Brucey's setting us up.

I referenced Hudd due to money spent in the window as it seemed to me, in hindsight, an either/or signing in terms of outlay – you then asked further questions about my opinions of the player.

You wrote that you’d ‘said consistently’ that you had only seen him play well three times last season, but now, apparently, whilst saying this, ‘consistently’, at no point did you say/write that you wanted him dropped.

If this is the case and only three good games out of 38 is your standard for not being dropped then I’m guessing I won’t be reading any more of your knicker-wetting about any our players.

Constant ‘oh we should have done this, should have done that’ is trite mate.

We should go and sign Troy Deeney or Jordan Rhodes in January. We don't have enough strikers for a PL club anyway, let alone covering injuries and poor form.

We definitely need a striker but I fear they'd both be out of our price range.

Both recently signed new deals I think.

Guidetti is available on the cheap.

    He's about the only option.

Or Chris Martin at Derby or Assombalonga (Sp) at Forest. It is required investment for me, at present we don't have a side capable of staying in this division. We need a like minded player to Jelavić to play in a two up front. Selling Long for £12m is looking a really poor decision. He wasn't worth £12m, but we've spent £10m on his replacement who doesn't seem any better and he hasn't adjusted to PL football yet.

    Can't argue with that.

Even if AH comes good, we still need another centre forward.

Not sure what sort of striker Guidetti is, not really seen him play much.

I didnt want him dropped cos we didnt have anyone better to come in. That doesnt change that he was being massively overrated by media who watched 30 seconds of highlights, and our own fans, which i said at the time. There's no hindsight regarding Tom at all.

And where do you get this either / or Tom and Austin idea from? I have never heard anyone even remotely suggest that.

From the limited amount I've seen of him he looks a similar player to Austin and Rhodes. A goal scorer, but he can play a bit too.

    Long was a good sale
    Hernandez isn't looking worth £10m
Derby won't sell their top scorer in January, that would be stupid
No team will sell their best players in January

Anyway, I don't believe a new striker is the solution. Jelly is a goalscorer.

The problem is we're not creating chances, and whilst we're not creating chances no amount of strikers will prove fruitful.

We're not creating chances because we're setting up defensively to defend a 0-0. As long as that continues, we will struggle to score.

What we really need is a new manager who can take this expensive and highly talented squad, get them playing together and attacking in numbers, then we might create a few chances for Jelly and co to put away.

As it stands, the only player in the world who I think could drop straight in to our team and instantly improve our goalscoring return is Lionel Messi, and that's simply because he has the ability to skin all 10 outfield opponents before chipping the keeper with a rainbow flick. All whilst having his eyes closed.

Agree 100% we're not creating enough chances but rather than tactics i think its down to the centre midfield.

You think they all choose to just sit back of their own accord, or that's what they're instructed to do?

Do you not find it odd that no matter who plays in central midfield never makes a run beyond the striker or gets forward to attack, unless we're desperately chasing a goal, in which case they will?

There's been people critical of him, it's just that those who talk the most and shout the loudest tend to be heard more.

Like the majority of the team, Huddlestone is played in the wrong position and thus can hardly be made a scapegoat.
