Maybe wishful thinking on your part mate.

Our strength is not down to individuals but in the team as a whole. The Team is stronger than the sum of its parts and every player that Mick has brought in or promoted from our Academy adds to the team collective. You're right, we don't have many individuals with outstanding ability, although I would argue that McGoldrick, Mings and Berra would walk into any Championship side. Teddy Bishop has been an absolute revelation this season, an 18 year old who plays like a seasoned pro and has huge potential. Mick has given us back the Ipswich I know and love and based on the team performances (only losing 1 game in the last 16) we will be a force to be reckoned with. There is still a long way to go but don't fall into the trap of underestimating us like many in the media have dine so often!

Excellent post jwm and exactly what I was saying to a canaries fan yesteday, who was lamenting the fact that you find yourselves in an 'automatic promotion' spot. <applause>

Looks like we may have to get the bus resprayed!!!

Did you go Rick? cut out the errors my arse, the ball was constantly given away, no movement, no cohesion (expect in the sense of standing in rows, a good thing I guess). Not sure why I feel annoyed by the performance, and I'm normally not, but it was an awful day of football, other than the most importantly bit - 3 pointd

We made plenty of errors yesterday, Wigan just weren't good enough to make the most of them.

After the first 15 minutes there wasn't one good period of possession for either team. Agree it was a poor game, but grinding out that one win can build confidence which we're totally lacking.

Cuellar organising. Has to stay in as neither Martin/Turner do that.

I thought he did OK for 83 minutes in the Florist game - for him to be dropped just because we collectively self-destructed in the last seven minutes struck me as extremely harsh.

No, I didn't go, but I did watch the whole match on a very good stream. Yes the ball was lost on occasions, but only rarely through sloppy passing and often as we upped the tempo ('constantly given away' is a gross exaggeration IMO). Even Man City and Chelsea lose the ball at times and that will always happen unless ultra safe 'tika-taka' short passing is adopted. I was pleased that much of the pointless, slow build-up sideways passing was dropped yesterday as we looked to get forward quickly. I saw more movement than you seemed to as Hooper and Jerome interacted well and Lafferty and Josh moved aroiund up front as well when they came on. It was not a scintillating game certainly, but it was a very professional performance aimed at getting a very vital 3 points. Hopefully that will lead to more confidence and more exciting football against Huddersfield, providing the yellow army gets behind the team throughout as the over 1000 travelling fans did yesterday.

Great 3 points for the team today. Just to mention the free kick. I was told to put it in the corner to waste time.

    laffs loves the laughs <laugh>

very difficult for me to say anything as i didn't watch the match yesterday but the in-laws went and they were far from impressed and had pretty much the same view as longsight, suggesting it was an appalling spectacle between two poor sides, so other than the three points i'm not sure we can judge too much on the game at wigan as both were so desperate for points to halt their alarming lack of form. i think the following two fixtures will tell us whether we've begun to turn a corner or not. start well and with the right application against huddersfield, win the game and then go to derby county and put in another good performance and hopefully get a result and i think we can say we're moving in the right direction but yesterday was, by all accounts, a mess that could have gone either way. thank god it went ours <ok>

nice goal by howson though, lovely finish and good hold up play by hooper. howson needs to play further forward - he can't perform in a flat two in midfield. that's three in three whilst playing behind the strikers i think.

We didnt play fantastical well. Although I feel some of the organisation was a bit better there was still too much sloppy passing. However we did deserve the win. But it is silly to say things like that. If we had lost everyone would have judged us on that game. So why not just be positive that we one. Not pretty but credit where credit is due, they won the match. Of course we have no idea if we will slip back into losing games or if we will now pick up, but you cant dismiss a win because it was a poor match.

In fairness I imagine that is more what you meant.

i think you've misunderstood my point!

of course we should all be delighted that we won the game - its been a while coming!! but i don't think we can say whether we've turned a corner based on this one-off game. i can't comment on the application as i wasn't there - i'm told it was a bit better - but we need to up the performance level greatly AND still take home three points. we should be able to beat huddersfield at home (but then there's been plenty like that already that we haven't) and if we can start to build a little momentum i think we are more than capable of going to derby county and getting a result there. BUT (and it is a big BUT, and i cannot lie), without combining yesterdays scrappy but vital win with more victories and better performances, we'll continue to stumble along aimlessly. this HAS to be the start of something better. fall flat next week or get thumped at the ipro and we're back to square one.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if old Holty popped up with the winner!

I wonder if he would celebrate... <whistle>

My thought is that after Middlesborough and Wolves, yesterday was the worst we played all season. But this time we got the 3 points. Alone, it means very little but now we have to build on it because our woeful run of form has put us under pressure to pick up nearly maximum points for a long time yet to make up all the ground we have lost.

I have to disagree DM, though I can understand where you are coming from. For me, there was a very different attitude from our players and it made all the difference. There was none of the taking the opposition lightly that has shown in some previous matches. Players got stuck in and covered the whole pitch, closed players down and made it very difficult for Wigan. As Supers says, however, the key is keeping that up match after match and like him I hope that will be the case, as that is the key to Championship football. Perhaps some of that is down to Phelan, especially in defending, and if so it's good to have a full management team again.

Jacob Murphy has won Blackpool's Player of the Month. Do we even do that?

    I'm right here.

Did we play well? Seems like we were rubbish, and from the fleeting glimpese I saw we were.

You can support Adams all you want, it remains misplaced and is detrimental to the long term future of the club.

Saturday's game was pretty dire but we won the match, job done, end of. There's no-one more critical than me on here but for pity's sake give the man a break, who knows Saturday may well turn out to be the turning point in our season <ok>
