Very interesting field for the John Durkan at Punchestown with Don Cossack tackling Gold Cup winner Lord Windemere and Boston Bob. Is this the race where Don announces himself as a Gold Cup contender?

No. He doesn't stay the extended trip well enough for me. I think Bob will win tomorrow but not confident enough to bet.

I do think Twinlight will take the race at Cork though and have backed him.

The grade three at 1.15 is a grade one novice hurdle in my book. Great race on paper.

Livelivelaugh in the bumper will be no price but I think it's a very and I'll be rolling any winnings on that one at the end of the day.

    Firstly horrible news about Oscar

Today's action Ardnahoe @ Kelso - Donald McCain was very bullish about this one on the morning line and basically said she wins, probably why she is only even money

Off to Huntingdon in a mo. Was planning to back Wonderful Charm in the Peterborough Chase, a race that'#s been won by some pretty wonderful chasers in recent years. However, the likely soft ground is slightly tempering my enthusiasm.

Will also be on Mickie in the mares novice chase. The drop back to 2m4f is a huge plus, as his her jockey - the way Dickie Johnson is riding right now, the only thing that can stop him is the stewards.

Horrendously bad racing this week, this place dead as well so it appears maybe it wasnt the flats fault.

Dodging Bullets, Vibrato Valtat both done as short price favs last time, both bolt up, one as second string to the odds on fav of the champion trainer who the stable jockey jumped off.

Odds on favourites tailed off all over the shop, form pretty much irrelevant, whos in the right place at the right time and jumped ok, whos day is it today.

Trainer Quotes - "Will come on for the run", "will come on for the run", "will come on for the run"

"Your horse was beat 50 lengths three weeks ago, but won by 10 lengths today"

"he came on for the run"

    Proper racing indeed.

Gordon Elliot runs his two best horses at Punchestown today, Don Cossack and Mala Beach, something badly wrong with racing in Ireland if they arent good enough to beat the Mullins 10th and 20th strings

I guess you didn't back Dodging Bullets and Vibrato Voltat then. Been a good weekend for me, think form is standing up pretty well. Be even better if SWC wasn't ruining the Becher for me.

I think Wishfull Thinking looks a cracking bet at 9/2 in the Peterborough Chase today.

What form are you talking about?

    Vibrato Valtat/Dunraven Storm?

    Gods Own/Balder Success/Hinterland?

Out the window in my opinion and if they all run against each other in a couple of weeks it will be totally different again.

Grade 1 form, they are having a laugh.

I dont know anything about training, but from the outside looking in it seems they can get jump horses to run stones up and back down in the space of weeks.

Thats why I didnt discount Conti after his first run because its standard practice in this jumps game, but its a total guessing game for punters.

The sprint handicap division on the flat is more predictable.

Paul Nicholls is an absolute nightmare, "Al Ferof will need the run" and tipping the pacemaker for it e/w while Al Ferof, whos record first time is excellent, is smashed up and romps in. I was on Al Ferof but he must have put loads off it, not for the first time, and I find it hard to believe it wasnt on purpose.

He wins big races every weekend with bingers and more times than not the really fancied ones get turned over, Irish Saint a good example yesterday, dont know if they are at it or STD is just a poor jockey.

It was 100% on purpose. They asked the owner just before the off if he was fancied and he said 'ooooohhhhh yes'. 5 mins later it's bang bang. Trainers Christmas paid for.

I don't rate the jockey but he's done well there. On Impulse looks a good prospect based on that.

2.30 Punchestown UN ATOUT goes chasing and up in trip for the first time. Very excited about this horses future. I think he is a 3 miler in waiting but with Don Poli looking an out and out 3 miler already, I am backing Un Atout for the Jewson. He'll come on for the run today so no one needs to go ploughing in at 4/5 but I'm hoping to see him jump well.
