I don't really trust what he considers deadwood. He seemed to have his favourites and sod anyone else. The sheer amount of lies, bitterness and general nonsense he's come out with since leaving makes me even more certain we had to get rid of him. I expect the players felt the sameway too.
A lot of good points here. I just looked at the stats for the first time, and itâs one of the times they do tell a story. We had 61% possession, but were outshot 12-10, and only had two shots on target to Chelseaâs eight. So we attacked boldly, no doubt a good thing in itself, but naively--not so good--and were handled fairly easily and gleefully picked off by Chelsea. I did like the way we went at Chelsea, especially early in the game. But I really have to wonder why it is that we got a result, and perhaps were unlucky not to get more, playing away against one top four club, then reverted to all out attacking against Man City and Chelsea. It got us the same lopsided losses we got last year, while the new approach--sit back and pick them off, for a change--got us a draw at Arsenal. I really wonder about Pochettinoâs learning ability, some times--or, perhaps, his willingness to trade what chance we have of getting a result for playing the way his philosophy dictates. Oddly enough, despite my disappointment with the result, Pochettinoâs tactics and the playersâ ability to hold their nerve, Iâm getting more confident rather than less that weâre going to end up with quite a good team in the not so distant future. Itâs a very young team thatâs skillful, fast, big and strong, and itâs working harder (for which I give Pochettino credit). Add better team defending, which should come, and the right choice of tactics for each game, which, it seems, never will, and weâll be in good shape. Iâm more optimistic about the team, and more critical of Pochettino, than most. But as guilty as I find him of being too stubborn, I am getting more comfortable with the idea that heâs the right man to train the players, if not to set them up on game day. I also think the comparison of Spurs and Man U as works in progress is fair enough. I donât know about Sherwood. I realize heâs an abrasive character, and widely disliked. But he set the team up in the way that gave them the best chance of winning, and I wish Pochettino would do the same without losing his training methods.
Sherwood does not have a job...there is a reason for this. Palace, west brom, southampton, fulham, watford (two times), wigan, chelthenham, blackpool, Leeds (three times), birmingham, tranmere, york, scunthorpe, hartlepool, bolton, orient, cardiff, port vale, colchester, carslisle, have all changed managers (and there are others) since we sacked him...
is that the same players who put up another fantastic performance today. Sherwood knew who the deadwood where but wasn't given a chance to get rid, we will now have to waste another season until poch gets rid although I would be amazed if Lamela and Paulinho aren't shown the door in January as they are the biggest pile of dog s*** I think ive ever seen at spurs
Well Lloris would've been one of the first out of the door and he's saved our bacon a number of times under Sherwood and other managers. Sherwood's opinions change with the breeze. Those players you think he considers deadwood nearly all played their part in the win percentage he loved so much. We've already seen it with Chadli, had Paulinho or Soldado had a great start to the season he'd be saying he'd always known they'd come good too.
