It's a terrible idea. Sterling is required for carrying the ball forward - few better than him. Whilst his shooting is worse than BCR's.

Lallana fits the bill for a forward.

Agreed but this is just pure desperation because this attack is terrible. We've tried playing actual strikers in Borini, Balotelli and Lambert and they're all useless. At least with Sterling, we have a player who actually fits the style we had last season.

And whilst he may not be an actual striker, his pace and movement will give defenders something to think about. At the moment, the opposition defenders are relaxing at the thought of playing against Lambert.

  3. As I said above, I'd prefer not to. I'd prefer we had a proper forward there and use Sterling in his best position; No.10!

To have lambert as our main striker now in the absence of Sturridge is a huge indictment of Rodgers' purchasing. Our attack is just not functioning. How did we come to that?

Is this the worse attack we've had in the Premier League era?!

  7. Its the worst I can think of. Even worse than when we only had one injury prone Spanish striker under Rafa! <laugh>

You must be joking, how long did we lead the line with N'gog when Torres was out?

    That was beyond ****ing painful.

Yeah that was in my mind.

Back in the day with Heskey + Baros, we also had Fowler and Owen.

There is no academy guy holding the fort up front now which highlights the problem I think.

Borini is plop, Lambert is okay but as a number 3 or 4. Sturridge fit would mean such a difference, but with Balo being so bad it shows that we only have 1 true striker at the club which is terrible <steam>

    At least N'terrible scored 3 or 4!

  11. Thing is, N'Gog then was a better option than Balotelli, Lambert or Borini now <laugh>

But seriously, N'Gog fit into the way we played and put effort in. He wasn't the greatest striker but he was a better option than anything we currently have bar Studge.

Argh mate lets be honest here.

    N'gog was absolute cack!

As useful as a chocolate fire guard!

  13. True but he did a job which is more than can be said for Balotelli and Borini. I'll omit Lambert from that because I think he's done a job for us in the last few games, he was knackered today though.

I would like to see the following formation used at some point during my lifetime:

    ------------Mignolet-------------
    -Manquillo--Kolo--Sakho--Moreno-
    --------------Lucas-------------
    ---Henderson---------Can-------
    -------------Coutinho-----------
    ---Balotelli------------Sturridge--

At the 60 minute mark, take off Lucas, Balotelli and Coutinho, drop Can and Henderson back, sub on Lallana, Markovic and Sterling for a strikeforce of:

    ----Henderson----Can-------
    -----------Lallana-----------
    -Markovic------------Sterling-
    -----------Sturridge---------

look.... there was a time in 2011 under hodgson that it was really really bad... but if we look back.

in 1992 saunders wasn't THAT bad...

    i mean rush and fowler....

    folwer and owen...

    combinations of camara and whatever...

    morientes, bellamy... etc etc.

no i must say that lambert, borini and balotelli are IMO the worse waste of space and time i've ever seen.

I am of the opinion that will never happen.... I can see the second line up at some point maybe in 12 months time cos lucas will f off cos he's sick of rodgers too and gerrard will too (i hope) unfortunatley whatever about markovic finding his feet i judge lallana as not good enough just to lack of pace and physicality.

Yeah N'gog did his best to be fair.

I didn't hate him, just annoyed we had let ourselves get in a position where we are relying on a Championship level striker.

I agree he has done more than Balo and probably on a par with Borini, if not slightly better.

The Balo signing really has hurt us.

I wonder if he will get another chance - and thinking about it - could we actually sell him in January if we wanted too?!

I wonder whether anyone had noticed Rodgers post match interview.

He said that "the players did everything they were asked, they gave their all and nothing was wrong with the performance "

Hang on: we had played Sunderland at home, the score was 0-0. Are you really happy with EVERYTHING? Surely there must have been room for improvement . Would Mourinho or van Gaal have said the same? I think they would have said we needed to step up and improve and we need to beat teams at home.

Rodgers seems to never be unhappy with the performance. I hope he says different things in private but does he underestimate the intelligence of his own fans?

He literally says that crap every week. Anyway, another pathetic performance, when we could have gained on Arsenal, however now when utd win we will be officially out of champions league qualification.
Also, what did Can do to upset Rodgers, a couple great games and suddenly dropped.
