    Didn't realise Borini was injured??

  2. Neither did I until the commentator said it during the game. Makes sense since he's not been on the bench for the last two games.

    Fair enough.

Would you entertain the thought of having Sterling and Markovic playing up front? ... Pace and movement.

I think Coutinho played well, but the movement in front of him was poor. Sterling was inefficient. Lambert very poor. I think we should play Lallana as a forward. Although slight, he has better goal instincts and a smarter shot than most if not all currently at our disposal.

With Coutinho and Sterling, they will lose the ball because they have the balls to try things and not to just do the safe option.

We haven't got an effective target man so we need to play with 2 up front. I like the idea of Gerrard as a false 9 but I really want to try Markovic in a central position. His cameo was encouraging and he will give the attack some much needed drive and speed.

Anyone want to summarise the performance?

Read a few report and seems like we didn't start playing until Gerrard came on but then that could just be the media ass licking Gerrard like they have done when he was dropped last week.

Encouraging that in the last 3 games we've only conceded 1 goal... much better defensive stats since Toure has come back into the team to be fair to him

    **** until half time.
    Slightly better after the half.
Slightly better again when Gerrard came on.
    No goals were scored.

That's about the whole game <ok>

Another poor performance mate. No different to the last 2 wins.

Rodgers played 4-2-3-1 which simply does not work - the midfield is too deep and leaves the others isolated. Lambert was dreadful but I think thats down to too much playing time. Sterling and Coutinho are clearly frustrated having to play with him.

Sterling and Coutinho were wasteful but are still the sources of our creative play. Some will disagree but I thought Lallana did little again. As I said, most of the attacks came from Sterling.

Henderson struggling tocimpact games. The midfield was pretty much bossed which is quite embarrassing. We need Allen to help gain some control in the middle. Lucas was good again. Moreno was pretty good as well - made a couple of positive runs. Immense pace.

First half was poor - Sunderland had more possession. We naturally picked it up and dominated the second half. Gerrard came on and did little bar one beautiful pass. Markovic came on for the last 10-15 mins and looked positive for change so hopefully he will get more minutes.

Markovic is an odd one. A couple of games he's come on and looked good but then has been totally anonymous. Seems like he could do with a run of games but his performances haven't warranted it yet. Guess you have to tick or twist with him.

Guessing Can didn't come on? Was he even on the bench? Unless he's still carrying an injury I don't understand why he isn't playing. He's the one midfielder this season that's actually looked strong and powerful in the middle and can take a game to the opposition.

Ps, Sounds like we're missing Flanno don't you agree :bandit:

Oh yeah, Markovic has been very poor but he's a young lad with immense potential. Would like to see him getting more minutes to help with his confidence. But at least today, he wasn;t afraid to try things and made a couple of positive runs.

Nope, Can didn't come which is criminal (unless he's injured). I think he's our best central midfielder and he's certainly the only who can actually run with the ball and drive the team forward.

Haha and god only knows why Johnson plays ahead of Manquillo !

It's delusion pinning our hopes on Markovic. He's shown nothing so far. He doesn't seem match fit either. BR should get to a settled 11 asap.

    -------------------Mig-------------
    --Johnson--Skrts--Toure---Moreno
    --------Lucas------Can(Allen)------
    ---Sterling-----------Coutinho-----
    ------Balo(Lambo)---Lallana------

Gerrard to come in for a midfielder after the hour mark if needed.

  17. I'd put Sterling upfront but only in a partnership. Not sure about Markovic as I'm not convinced about him still so wouldn't even start him still. He needs time to adapt but it needs to be gradually.

If Brod wanted to revert to his F9 system, I think Coutinho could do a decent job.

I would prefer not to do either though.

Just because they are fast players you can't just assume they'll be boss up top. It's not fifa.

  19. Very true. However, Sterling offers movement which is why I'd consider it if necessary. Not ideal but its a option if we're short.
