I felt sorry for Rosie today, they just pushed him on to his wrong foot and made him completely ineffective, for me, sticking him at right back and Brady at left back got everyone into their natural positions and I'd have sacrificed Meyler just because I thought he was fairly poor in the first half and he's no right winger.
Clearly no one who commented on this thread was at the game. Meyler had a decent game. Must be the new fall guy. He was asked to do a specific job which he did well. We dont have a strike force. Simple as that really. We have a centre midfield who absolutely s**t their sen at the the thought of a forwards pass to a forward and will take every opportunity to pass the buck to someone else if there's a sniff of a shot at goal. Makes me laugh the way Brady is held up as some kkind of saviour. His first move is to cut inside and straight into trouble. His corners were s**t as were Quinns. Crack the f**ing whip Brucey. Do the basics right.
I was at the game and Meyler was very poor, his first instinct is to come inside (Agreed Brady did the same thing, but i've not praised him either). At the end of the game he needed to go past Elmo and create space for him, he didn't. Numerous times he was deeper than Elmo. I get he is no right winger and it's not his fault he played there but he was very poor. His distribution, he didn't take a man on, no great crosses. We where far to narrow, our two wingers came inside and Brady did exactly the same thing when he came in. We need the wingers to stay wide as the first half showed when Elmo got forward they where there for the taking down the flanks.
I'm not here to open this debate again but please explain to me how watching on tv, with cameras capturing any on-the-ball action gives u less of an accurate impression of a player than attending a game? I would actually argue that attending a game gives you a less accurrate idea as you may easily be distracted by people around you by off the ball actions and may be sitting somewhere with a poor view of the overall play etc... Meyler is w**k. His touch, tackling and passing is pathetic. And Steve Bruce could probably outrun him. What is his job then? Just jog around in front of our defence looking 'ard?
What a differencce Robertson made when he came on , somebody trying to get forward and attack , he was always looking for the ball and driving forward Livermore makes a mistake or loses the ball and he runs around like a duracell bunny until he can get within reach of one of their players , then he kicks them , he's pobably banned now but I don't know how he stays on the pitch sometimes . We need Robertson or Brady on the pitch probably both , and Elmo at wingback or in midfield because his strength is going forward and getting crosses in
Did you not read where i said he was asked to do a specific job? That was to come inside so Elmo could go down the line to cross the ball. Which he did. everything you say is what he was supposed to do. Which is why Brucey kept him on. He did ok. Not brilliant, just ok. But better than Livermore Quinny and Hudd.
We are too obsessed with passing back. West Brom were much more positive than us. Elmo should have learned he wasn't getting past his man and started to cross earlier.
When I watch a match on TV it looks like a different match to the one I saw live. That reminds me I haven't even watch the Cup Final on TV yet.
How many games this season hasn't he ****ed up so badly? He's just not good enough. That line up was a joke. It was the same 'giving everyone a go' mentality which forfeit our European place. The fat **** can't be kicked out the door fast enough.
You play your best players when they would be your strongest team on the day. If somebody is injured, "tired" (how can that be?), suspended or playing badly then play somebody on the fringes. They get paid well and they should be up to taking their premier league chance when they get it. If they want to go play championship football they can.
Couldn't disagree more. He did fill in at right back when Elmo ran forward but be barely tucked inside to let Elmo run down the outside. Instead he kept running towards Elmo rather than away from him to make that space. As for the other three, Livermore was the best of the four in midfield. I don't think Quinn did too much wrong either. He closed players down a lot - he was just unfortunate that he rarely won the ball when it would instead deflect in favour of the West Brom player in 50 50s.
Leaving Elmo at right back was the ****test move of the day. He was the only one driving us forward and as soon as their black number 27 came on (who was quick, sitting high upfield and always looking to make a run in behind) he was well pegged back and unable to get up the pitch. At the very least him and Meyler should have swapped, really rosey should have shifted over.
Teams have sussed us out to a degree. WBA were ****e but quick to close us down, also teams know that we spray the ball to Elmo so they are doubling up getting men around him and snuffing him out...We need another outlet and it came when Robbo came on, shame he wasn't on from the off... Plus we played with four central midfielders, therefore there was little width...Huddleston was pretty in possession, but pretty unproductive. Jake put in a shift as did Quinn and Meyler. We missed Mo Diame and Yella who looked off it when he came on... The times when we did get around the back we looked okay, few as they were.. 3-5-2 is a must versus (No disrespect) WBA at home..
Has anyone watched us this season, to witness just how ****ing awful we have looked playing 3-5-2? And a quick bone to pick here it is most certainly NOT 3-5-2 and actully a 5-3-2 if Jelly and Hernandez play. More often than not it has been 5-4-1. It was the biggest factor behind the Aston Villa, Burnley and Man U debacles. Why would anyone ever want to see that piece of **** again, unless it was purely to fit Alex Bruce in the side?
Just for information but Quinny was at his most productive for Sheff Utd played left midfield in a 4-4-2, whipping in crosses for the rapist and Cresswell. Hope this helps....
