As an ex Union man, I am very skeptical about meetings in the home end of the gaffers, or in the trusts case a meeting at the KC, did you get supplied tea and biscuits ? A popular tactic by the management is to pretend to be friendly and willing to listen to your grievances but in reality they think your a load of ****s who will be taken in by any old **** they tell you. CTWD has diluted itself by merging with the coop, who lost their way many years ago, my stance since joining CTWD has been, no name change, ever. Allam will invite you in to the KC and get his underlings to be nice to you, let you think they are really very nice people and eventually you will bend to their will. It's standard brainwashing, they used to try it with the unions in the 70's and early 80's when it didn't work Thatcher used law to smash the unions, funnily enough just like Allam is trying to do. The club will listen to you and might make minor concessions about food, and other things that don't really matter, but if you think the supporters trust will change anything else you are deluded, don't waste your time, he won't listen, he won't change anything.
I don't bend to anyone's will and we actually got loads of food and beer(though I think I'm the only one who had a beer), there's plenty of bright people in the room, nobody's going to get duped over anything.
Your halfway there accepting gifts from the very people who despise you for daring to question the name change, I stopped doing Union business because the meetings were designed to sway us to their way of thinking which usually worked because the moderates could be bought, that's what will happen to you lot, out of 10 or 12 of you, how many are hardline name opponents 2 or 3? I know your ok Rob, but most of the others will be happy enough just to be at the KC smoozing with the gaffers and will eventually get in bed with the club
So what have these meetings achieved so far then ? Mirrors in the women's toilets ? Promises of different pies ?
Of course he does! Good see Im having an impact on some of you though, probably not enough to encourage some soul searching and honesty but I'll take what I can! I wasn't knocking Angie, I just had a funny image in my head as you go round the table and her sucking her cheeks in and saying "Im a life long fan but Im not going while this regime is in place" then giving a Nora Batty style glare at James. Vast majority? So some attending are Anti Allam then? Thats a shame. I assume that's why the chairman of CTWD doesnt go?
It was mentioned that the club had noticed Charlie's 1-woman campaign to get mirrors in the ladies loos. Happy, there were at least two openly anti-Allam people there including me. Why wouldn't there be? Of the 15 or so people in the room there was one guy who mentioned at the last meeting that he wasn't bothered about the name, and another chap who said something similar this time around. I think I'm right in saying the rest were anti name change. But you expect that from the kind of fan who'd want to go to these meetings.
You're reading it all wrong, there is no attempt to get anyone onside with a name change, in fact, the club representatives do everything possible to avoid even discussing it, mainly because pretty much everyone involved is vehemently anti-name change. These group meetings have nothing to do with the name change, they are about the fan experience at games home and away, improving stewarding, seating arrangements, ticket arrangements, anything we can come up with to improve the City supporting experience.
This was only the second Fan Working Group meeting, the first was a month earlier and so far it looks like we've got a fan on the Safety Advisory Group, an agreement that the club will use the £200k PL fund for discounted tickets, rather than Tiger Travel, an agreement that ticket prices were wrong this season and there will be no £50 games next season, a review of the disabled ticket prices for next season and the binning of the daft #UTT hashtag on Twitter. What did people expect after two meetings, a 2nd tier on the East Stand, Champions League qualification, topless concourse staff, a commitment to sign Messi?
Okay, that's sorted then, CTWD is not yet a Trust and the current membership (and others) will be able to decide on joining the Trust, or not, when all of the preparation work is concluded. I think that is what I said, it's not what you said originally. You may think that CTWD must be seen to be doing something for the benefit of those you aim to represent and I believe that is keeping a weather-eye on the name-change situation and working to restore the changes that took place in that period of lunacy; it seems clear that is no longer a priority for CTWD. Will the club, seeing as they called the meeting, be issuing a set of minutes, as would be reasonably expected, minutes that will list attendees and their key recognised association (if any). Will the NOT606 representative (?) be commenting on the meeting?
The name change was rejected, we believe that situation won't change, so we've moved on. The not606 rep has already commented on this thread. The club have approved these as an accurate record of the meeting.
