Does look much better than before, but I can't help it, the one thing ruining it is the blandness of the East End . If they could just separate it off somehow it would make a huge difference.
Disagree mate, I think the corner between the East End and the Williams Stand being properly filled in with seating is a good thing. Its the Atyeo that's going to look out of place when it's all finished
Would be surprised if we could expand the atyeo as we are bristol. But would like it to be as large as the Williams so it looked a bit like st James park.
Que ? I think Mr Lansdown has an ear to the ground as the height restriction of the Atyeo is due to the houses behind it. If he had the option I'm sure he'd buy the lot and tear them down to have the stand in keeping with the rest of what the ground will be like
I personally love it. Looks like a smart, well designed state of the art stadium. My only criticism is allowing the away fans to have the whole Atyeo end.... If they ever bring a large following we will be outsung as away fans are always louder than the home supporters. Maybe they could have had two thirds of it, Away fans could have the "RISTOL" and H block side of the Ateyo then home supporters could have the other side. Not very often away fans sell out but if we go up next year the likes of Cardiff and Leeds will fill that stand, outsing us and have priority getting out....
Looks a darn site better than the current ground, when finished i think we will all be glad we stayed at Aston Gate our spritual home
I think the club own some of the houses behind the ateyo already, when they have the lot watch, the stand rise in keeping with the rest of the ground, now that will look awsome.
I like the overall look and it will take us in to this century - at last. Just hope I will be able to get over and take a look but my Somerset roots are slowly fading in to history so it will take a very special effort. The only real roots from over there now is Bristol City and that shall remain for the long term and it will hopefully get me to the new Ashton Gate sometime in the next couple of years.
I like it and can't wait for the Williams to be done as then I won't have to squint from the sun all the time.
After decades of watching so many other clubs rebuilding tired old grounds (eg Wolves and Notts County) or moving to new sites with up to date facilities (too many to mention), I am really pleased that we are finally going to join in with the rest. I like the design, the fact that corners are filled in and the new Williams is particularly impressive. Maybe, if success on the pitch continues and we do manage to finally become a giant instead of a sleeping one, the Atyeo will be replaced in the way that many City fans already consider it will be ; stretching back to Ashton Road and high into the sky. My thanks to SL for his obvious love of my club and also to SC and his team of coaches and players who have given all of us back a football club that we can be proud of.
I hope you can make it back when it is all done. A weekend trip for your Canaries holiday at end of 2016?
You could just switch to the Williams? You'll have the same view and a brand new stand, not just a renovated one.
ref the Ateyo, spoke to DL at the meeting thursday, he said that city would have to buy the houses behind to do anything and would cost in region of £6m+, i think we only own the end one ( opposite hireite) we are knocking down when building starts on new Williams.
