Decent keeper, good back up. Although I hear he is prone to conceding 20 yard volleys.

We might start the first game of the season with as many play-off players from the Brizzle side that played at Wembley, than we have left from the City one.

Did well when he was last at this level but doubt he was given a proper chance at Wolves, i didn't even know he was there so can't have done! Either way i don't think he is amazing, but will do a job as back up more than likely.

Not sure about this signing. Can anyone tell me a bit about him? I know surprisingly little about Bristol City's players compared with most other teams.

He was a decent enough keeper for Brizzle, he was there five years and was first choice most of that time, but they fell over the terms of a new contract he was offered, he handed in a transfer request and was dropped from the squad. He didn't get a game for Wolves(as far as I'm aware), so now hasn't played a game for well over a year. If he's back up to Gulasci, then he's a decent keeper on a free, though I suspect he's not the only one we're looking at.

He didnt get a game for Wolves... but he played 165 games for Bristol City and quickly became a fans favourite.. he pulled of some brilliant saves and has gotten player of the year before... he's 36 and brazilian.. he's alright on a free for back up as he does do some pretty shocking mistakes

Wasn't even 2nd choice at Wolves, but I always thought he was one of the most respected keepers in the Championship when at Bristol City.

Gulacsi looks like he'll be first should he join up, but he would have a more than competitive number two in Basso <ok>

Just out of interest has anyone come out and said he is going to our number one? I was hoping we were going to get someone with a little more exp and not on loan?

Why does it matter if he is on loan or not? I prefer loans if we sign him permanantly is there any gurantee he could do it in the Championship? This way we can judge them first before purchasing him.

As long as they get plenty of time behind their defence then nothing (ie full pre season) but Guzan had little if any understanding with the CBs and his command of them was terrible. Look at Cardiff at home for example two very nearly embarrasing own goals.

He was a cracking keeper for us. True he may have been prone to few errors but do not know many keepers who aren't.

He became a fans favourite and I am sure will perform you guys. Think he got a bit to big for his boots in the end and believed his own press. He could not agree contract because he was influenced by his agent saying a Premiership club was after him. Did not happen rest history.
He seems to learn from mistakes and given game time will be a decent No1. Organised defence well and will make some spectacular saves when needed. He also builds a good relationship with fans.

We haven't signed him yet, he's just on trial and I wouldn't be surprised if there are others in the running, though I think Gulasci will probably be No.1 anyway, just as Mannone was last season. I don't care if it's our loan or permanent keeper who's No.1, I just want the best one to start.

Well if we are looking for a backup goalie, I think Hanneman would be ideal (even though he would have to take a substantial cut in wages).

But again, why look at Basso when we had Duke? IT MAKES NO SENSE!!

Maybe Basso wont want as much money as Duke.

Maybe Duke decided he's finally fed up of being number 2 and wanted to go elsewhere and play?

Maybe, but I reckon if we'd have offered him a year extension he would have bitten our hands off.

As for Basso being cheaper than Duke, maybe. But Duke was already on peanuts (comparatively) so how much would Basso want? Having players on miles more money than other squad members (like Bullard and Oilyvagina) is no less a problem as having individuals on far less money than anyone else.

It's pretty simple, surely? Duke isn't a #1. No manager we've had has thought so (except maybe Dowie). He was obviously very expensive for a number 2 so he's been let go.

From what I saw(and I've heard) of Basso, he's a better keeper than Duke.

Duke's always been our No.2, he was even No.3 for most of last season. NP obviously doesn't rate him and I doubt he'll get any interest from another Championship club even as a No.2, which pretty much says it all.
