After just one week away, a week which has been typically eventful for Leeds fans, we're making the long trip to East Anglia to check that Noel Hunt is happy with his new club. Aren't we nice?! On the field, this has been a great week for Leeds, picking up 3 points against league leaders Derby in a commanding performance at Elland Road. While fans need to not get too carried away, there were encouraging signs of the team getting back to some sort of form, and some not so encouraging trout like signs coming from a shameful few seconds from Adryan. Ipswich have been in fine form of late, and Mick McCarthy's men recorded a win with a goal from none other than Noel 'arriving late in the box' Hunt. They are undefeated in 7 at Portman Road and currently sit in 2nd in the league. If there was ever a bad time to be playing Ipswich, this could be it. Historically, Leeds enjoy these fixtures and enjoy a slender lead in the last 6 meetings. While it looks a difficult game on paper, it could provide a handy test of whether last weekend was a fluke, or the real green shoots of recovery in the Leeds camp. Ipswich Wins 19 Draws 13 Leeds Wins 28

Ipswich Form Leeds Form Last Meeting

W 0 - 1 Charlton

D 2 - 2 Bournemouth

W 1 - 0 Watford

W 2 - 1 Wolves

W 0 - 2 Blackpool

Derby 2 - 0 W

Blackburn 2 - 1 L

Blackpool 3 - 1 W

Charlton 2 - 2 D

Cardiff 3 - 1 L

 1 - 1 Draw Elland Road 28/01/14

Ipswich 2nd (W9 D7 L3) +9 Goals 34pts Leeds 15th (W6 D5 L8) -3 Goals 23pts

Ipswich Top Scorers

Daryl Murphy 11

David McGoldrick 5

Christophe Berra 4

Leeds Top Scorers

Mirco Antenucci 7

Souleymane Doukara 5

Alex Mowatt 4

Team News Damned's Starting XI

Ipswich please log in to view this image Jonathan Williams (Injured) please log in to view this image Cameron Stewart (Doubtful) please log in to view this image Jack Collison (Doubtful) please log in to view this image Kevin Bru (Doubtful) please log in to view this image Teddy Bishop (Doubtful) Christophe Berra and Luke Hyam could return providing some relief from a recent spate of injuries. Confidence should be high after the Derby game, but consistency is something that we have struggled with this season. Looking at it objectively, a point away at 2nd place Ipswich would be a great result anyway. Team wise it doesn't seem wise to mess too much with things that are seemingly working at the minute. There is a danger of overexposing Cook to 1st team action, but he is playing so well I'm not going to be the one to suggest dropping him!! My first ever Leeds game was away to Ipswich in 1981, we had Lukic in goal and we took a 1-0 lead going into half time only to lose 2-1, it was the season we went down. As for prediction, last weeks result against Derby has made this an impossible one to predict for me, this time last week I would have taken a point from each and felt it was the best we could expect. Looking at Ipswich Towns results you can't see them losing but then I couldn't see Derby either. Great match thread once again
Great thread again DU, I think having jammed a correct prediction last week I'll wait till Saturday to consult the Oracle though. I'd take a point at this stage too though.
Great thread, no predictions from me except I'm going to do same as last week and tune in at 5 for the final score. A nice touch for hunt would be to hire a removal truck and dump his stuff at Portman road just in case he's in any doubt that we don't want him
Always great match threads Durham. Appreciated. Today's result is probably more important then last weeks scoreline. We need to get in the habit of threading a few results together. Confidence will be up, terraces will fill up, and will will climb the table. If we can win four on the trot, we won't be a million miles away from the top 6.
I always look forward to the Leeds game and we will have around 25,000 at Portman Road on Saturday. Mick is working miracles with our squad of freebies and academy players who all have a terrific work rate, team ethic and desire to win. I'm going for a 2- 1 Win for Town on the basis that we will have a big crowd and confidence amongst our players is sky high.
For those that know their history, I remember watching Terry Connor play for Leeds at Portman Road back in the late 70s. How long did Terry play for you and was he any good? He's No 2 to Mick and he does all the training with our strikers.
Connor came through the youth ranks at Elland Road. Showed a lot of promise. Sold on for £500,000. A lot of money back then.
My first Ipswich v Leeds game was at Filbert Street in 1975 in the third epic FA Cup replay. You had Sniffer Clark up front and Johnny Wark made his debut for us. Clive Woods scored an absolute screamer to win the game but it was very tight over the 3 games we played. Like I said on a previous post I always enjoy our encounters and it's a shame that we aren't both playing on the prem like we should be!
