Dec 6, 2014 at 12.45pm UK at St James' Park Newcastle Unitedvs.Chelsea Build-up FOOTBALL Steven Taylor: Newcastle United will not copy Sunderland's "defensive" tactics Filed: Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 08:28 UK Last Updated: Thursday, December 4, 2014 at 08:31 UK Steven Taylor has insisted that Newcastle United will not replicate Sunderland's defensive style when they come up against Chelsea. The Black Cats produced a solid display last weekend to hold the league leaders to a goalless draw at the Stadium of Light. However, Magpies defender Taylor expects his side to play their "natural game" against the Blues on Saturday in order to return to winning ways at St James' Park. "I watched the game between Chelsea and Sunderland, but it's going to be a completely different game when they play us," the 28-year-old is quoted as saying by The Northern Echo. "I'm sure Chelsea will be wanting to bounce back from last weekend, and with the players they've got, you have to respect them. They've got outstanding players like Diego Costa and Eden Hazard, and when you go through their team, there's class right the way through. "But this is at St James' Park and we'll be going out to play our game. We're not really set up to be defensive and pull a lot of players behind the ball, and I'm not sure we'd want to do that. We'll be playing our natural game and looking to be positive because that's the way we play." Newcastle are currently ninth in the Premier League table having gone two games without a win.
Well a) it will be a different game b) there can't be any fewer goals. I'd take a draw now but we do have a pretty good record against them at home so I've got some hope we may get something.
I really couldn't give one single flying **** what the cockney, wannabe geordie thinks. He's a cheating ****, he knows it, we know it & the horse punchers know it. If there's one player I hate, it's that ahh soul.
You have to get men behind the ball, and they won't so Drogba and company should run riot, and after we have won there( we should have a fully fit team by then! ), Taylor will keep his mouth shut.
monty I agree with almost everything you say there except for the bit about Taylor keeping his mouth shut. You've beat us three times on the bounce including 0-3 in the last two in Newcastle and he still isn't keeping his mouth shut. I don't think he's capable. The other two things that always strike me about these sorts of comments are that it does matter the tone of the questions he was responding to. Mostly though - there is no chance whatsoever than anyone, even Pardew, would be taking tactical advice from Taylor so his view is irrelevant.
I hope the mags have a real go at them. Will be a Chelsea win by 5 or 6. Clue: Chelsea are undefeated and top....
Fair play to them, they've took their chances, we didn't. They've imposed themselves no more on the game than we did. We really need to start burying our chances. We're simply not clinical enough. We had numerous chance put Chelsea away. The mags are scoring theirs chances, hats off.
Are seriously throwing that in sid's face after this? You are nowt but a pathetic, inadequate, social ******, who makes a fool of yourself every time you post on here
Do any of you mackems hold any resemblence of any class? All i get from you lot is name calling. Grown men of 50 calling each other ****s and ******s. It's just banter. Always the same with you. By the way, youre in 14th, and you'll likely end the day in 16th, so I wasn't that far off. And your punctuation is actually inadequate; after trying oh so hard.
