Although it doesn't seem much of an increase in capacity, it's better than moving. No disruption to existing seating while they carry out the work either. What next, news on naming rights ....
Won't rename Anfield but there was possibility of renaming stands I remember seeing a few months ago. Obviously not as much but I don't think naming a stand would be too bad.
That's what I meant really, they will re-name the stand. I hope they're putting large tv screens in because those at the top back on the new third tier will be a long way from the pitch.
I know I'm in a minority with this view but what's the big problem with stadium naming rights? If it brings in money then so be it. We'll all call it Anfield regardless, it just be called something else in the media and it would bring a **** load of money into the club too.
Trying to add a bit of controversy to the thread I think sentiment brings a lot into it. There isn't much that links the current team to the successful teams of the past but one thing remains and that's Anfield.
I'm open to all things... I really think naming rights are a revenue stream we are nuts to ignore... lets face it arsneal and city get a monumental amout for it. what i wish is that rather than 58K it will be 68K. I'm slightly hopeful the centenary stand will take an extra tier thereafter. it'd be easier rent a plane and fly over to see the game but f t we need it all. rail station ffs.
The money will come from executive seats and corporate boxes. Pretty sure Arsenal make as much money from their executive seats at the Emirates as they did from the whole of Highbury. It's been reported that half your new seats will be corporate seats and there will be a new row of executive boxes under the new tier, that's where the money will come from. It's also where the atmosphere will go...
But they moved into new stadiums. Totally different to renaming a stadium the club has been in since it was formed.
the pic of this new main stand extension doesn't have many clear corporate boxes... pics are usually crap. i've no idea. You are right the corporate crap makes a lot more money........
No doubt that's where the money will come from, but if you could still add another 10k at a later date and charge £40 a ticket that's £400k a game, x 19 home games that's £7.6m a season just from league games
look that is dead right as city of manchester stadium or eastlands aint maine road.... but.... c'mon...... highbury was a listed building and it got torn down for flats so arsenal can be rich and we cannot sell anming rights to pay some palyer a shed load to come? I really don't care... the people make anfield not the name.
This thread over at Skyscraper City will be a useful place to keep up with progress: http://www.skyscrapercity.com/showthread.php?t=210414&page=52
It's very likely it will be season ticket holders if you're talking about the10k but amounts to the same annual of about £8m+
Btw once you commit to this expansion, that's it, all eggs in one basket, no chance of relocating. Ofcourse that's a good thing, but if you can't expand beyond £59k seating is it really a good thing in the long run? Need to get to at least 70k imo in the next 10 years imo.
JB my threads are worse mate! This is imortant news obv, glad we finally have owners that are getting it done Just dont let BR spend the extra cash
