With the recalling of Grimmer I still think trying the wing back system is worth ago, funnily enough I'm generally not a fan of wing backs but just looking at our squad and the players we gave I just think it's the best system even Grimmer looks more suited to wing back than full back. Voser, Hoogland and Grimmer all look like wing backs before full backs and Stafylidis and Kavanagh as well add to the fact that we have loads of centre halves Bodarov, Burn, Hutch and Amore plus Amore looks perfect for a back three rather than a back four it all points to a wing back system to me at the moment.
This system also allows a free roaming role for a third centre midfielder which would probably suit Ruiz more!

I still think wing backs isn't the way to play three at the back. Three centre backs, two of whom are geared up to move wide when necessary, with a central midfielder able to drop back if and when that happens. That means your attacking width is where you need it - further forward - when you break, and your defensive width is ready to be deployed at the back when you need it. Grimmer plays centre back as well, so he would fit well into that formation, but as one of the the three defenders, not as a winger.

Agree. The thing I've always liked about Grimmer is his ability to read the game - obviously useful at any time but I'd have thought essential in 'that formation'.
