Started off well enough just a very negative line up prevented them from threatening after that.

Really? I thought Ganso, Pato, Robinho and Neymar were playing?

Ah. Well that explains it. Mind that frontline would be unreal after a couple of seasons on FM... <whistle>

  5. I hope Pardew puts out a full strength side for that one. He can play the kids and fringe players in the Leeds, Darlington and USA games if he wants, but the Fiorentina match is a week before our first home game of the season.

We should play a full strength team -

    ------------Ba/Erdinc/new striker------------

    Marveaux--------Ben Arfa----------Barton--

    --------Tiote-----------Cabaye------------

    Enrique-----Colo-----Taylor---------Simpson

    ----------------Krul-----------------------

    Formation porn alert!

To be fair, we shouldnt know our best team until we've played a few friendlies and seen how the new guys fit in. Could be that exact team, could have anything up to 7 changes IMO.

Knowing Newcastle injuries could also decide which team is available aswell!

Good standard of opposition before the season starts

  13. I'm sorry we disagree, i guess you think playing Demba Ba in goal isn't a good idea either?

Not a bad fixture, but hardly one to draw in the masses. Last game against Italian opposition in a friendly didn't exactly set the world on fire, but they're a decent team and should prove a decent test to see if we're up for battling for Europe.
Will probably go to this one with Uncle as I ususally do for Pre-seasons as it's the only games I get to go with him now and feel a bit guilty after he got me into going to games and we don't often go anymore since I've got Season Ticket.

Might not be the last one but Carroll scored past Buffon. Get Airey on against Fiorentina, it's the secret to his success

<laugh> Forgot about that, maybe. Although Boruc isn't exactly the same class as Buffon.

    Venezuela did me PROUD! :D

Drawing 0-0 against Brazil & we also threatened at times(honest) with Rondon(Malaga) & Miku(Getafe), just lacked that extra yard of pace, creativity and technical ability to actually have some control of the game, but yes Brazil were mainly disappointing.

Oh and yes I think Vargas is injured! :(

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2011_Copa_América_Group_B#Brazil_v_Venezuela Here are the line-ups for those interested. <ok>
