Not improve as a player as obvioulsy he is over the hill i meant improved his form back to a level we knew he is capeable of.
Dawson was unusually inconsistent last season. Most people will acknowledge its time to move on from him, but i wouldnt say he was ten times worse than anybody.
I agree. He had some excellent rampaging performances this year. I don't think he's finished by any stretch. I think he desperately needed competition and if Dudgeon is very good, he'll play but he'll have to be good to keep Dawson out of the team.
I think if you look at the stats, they confirm that Andy struggled a lot last season. Certainly that is what I witnessed. It seemed like he gave away countliess free-kicks by pulling back players who had skipped round him due to their advantage in pace. Bookings: 2003/4 3 2004/5 7 2005/6 2 2006/7 6 2007/8 4 2008/9 8 2009/10 7 20010/11 11 Right and Left backs are one of the most crucial positions nowadays because they have to defend and attack and they have to have plenty of pace to be able to achieve meaningful position in both modes. Daws has lost his pace and it's time to say "Thanks for all your efforts, Andy, you were a legend" and move on.
I think it's the other way round, I think Dudgeon is already our first choice left back and will remain so unless he messes up badly or gets injured. We've put every Man United kid we've signed straight into the first team and they've all improved it. Dawson has been great for the club, but his lack of pace and the(quite pantomime at times) shirt pulling has got ridiculous, he's also completely one footed and even his ability to take free kicks has now escaped him. The first player we signed this window was a left back and I don't think that was a surprise to most of us.
That's not the other way around, that's what I said. I said "keep Dawson out", which surely implies Dudgeon will be in?
You said 'he'll have to be good to keep Dawson out of the team', I'm suggesting his arrival has already put Dawson out the team.
Why wouldnt Chester play in midfield? lol shurrrup febbo!! played there last season. And mines based on the front 3 being a front 3 not with Fryatt as an out and out right wing. Hence the more defensive minded tri of Chester, Evans and Mckenna, Koren ended the season pretty drab, flits in and out too much for me. I like the idea of Adebola holding it up and playing in the likes of Fryatt and Stewart. I also remember the amount of Crosses Stewart delivered into the box that sailed just over 5ft2 inch barmbys head, i think with Stewarts delivery Adebola may have a pretty decent season.
Oh, in that case. Surely he must play there again therefore...... From what I've heard/seen Chester belongs in the central defence. He felt out of place when he was used as the player between the midfield and defence. But sure, might just be an adjustment thing
how about GK Rosey Chester Hobbs Dudgeon Mckenna Evans Koren Stewart Fryatt Simpson Stewart to be given a free role and run down whichever wing he likes, Koren to play in the hole and fit back into one of the wing positions when needs be. And that's assuming Bullard and Oli leave, I would put either of them 2 ahead of Evans in there, or possibly Bullard in for Koren, Oli for Evans.
Like the look of that , I think Simpsons going to have a pretty decent season, as long as he gets a chance i think him Fryatt and Stewart can cause havoc. Chester operated there for United reserves/youth too Febbo, its not alien to him. Im pretty sure NP wouldnt of put him there if he couldnt do a job. Crikey the need for massive explanation!! lol
I do agree with you. Andy Dawson will start the season but as it goes along i expect the left back position to be a horses-for-courses position. AS OF NOW the Best team IMO that Hull City can play in the opening game with Blackpool(based on how blackpool come at you all the time) would be;_ GK......tbc Rosinoir Hobbs Chester Dawson(c) Simpson Olifinjana Bullard Koren Fryatt and Adebola Looks very strong to me and plenty of options. Other than maybe Fryatt, nobody looks nailed on to start. Thats what managers want. High competition within the squad. but i woukld have an all change policy for the Macclesfield cup game..... GK........tbc McShane Kilbane Cooper Dudgeon Ghilas Evans McKenna Barmby McLean and Cullen Lets see who is up for the task eh ? with still much choice for the bench.
No Harper in either team? No Cairney? Do you see these two as versatile bench options or just as poor footballers?
Gulcasi Rosenior - Hobbs - Chester - Dudgeon ----Bullard - Mckenna - Evans ---- ----Ghilas - Fryatt - Stewart----
