Yet another possibility- apparently he has handed in a transfer request at Roma. For those with a good memory didn't he reject us a few years ago?
I haven't seen Vucinic play for a few years but I thought he tended to play out wide or off the main striker. I saw we've been linked to both him and Damiao and as much as I'd love us to get in new strikers, I'd be a bit underwhelmed if we bought those two.
He the main striker for his country- not saying much I know. Damiao is young and could be an unpolished diamond
Would Vucini suit us? Given that someone is going to have to make way, who is he likely to replace if we do buy him?
You are aware that Montenegro aren't cannon fodder, right? I could mention they're ranked 16th in the World Rankings - ahead of Russia, Uruguay and Sweden - but that's rendered meaningless by England being placed fourth...
Yikes, he looks a bit scary there! Everyone seems to be assuming that Damiao is going to be a great signing on the back of Sandro's transfer but really, if we take a punt on him we could really do with a player that's certain to hit the ground running for us, even if he does come good it could easily take him a few seasons to live up to his potential.
Very true, SF. I wouldn't be at all concerned if we were to accept the move in January, as long as we planned to fully integrate him for next season and had the rest of our strikeforce sorted out already.
I happy either way, provided we don't start next season with just the three clowns that we ended with last season. I'm prepared to give each of them the benefit of pre-season to sort their appalling records of last season out, but we need a new striker in there to freshen things up.
Yeah, but the funny thing on bbc606 was the amount of Spurs fans creaming themselves at the prospect of Sandro from only a couple of youtube clips. Some very smug people out there now that he has come good
Christ! I hope not. I think I, like a lot of Spurs fans, are more angry with Defoe than actually anti him. His planned celebration for scoring 100 goals really demonstrated the ivory tower that these players live in - that he would honestly believe that we'd be in any kind of mood to celebrate his 100th goal for Spurs when he, and his appalling record last season, was one of the prime reasons we finished outside the top 4, made my blood boil. I'm willing to give any of them a chance, provided they start to deliver. Having said that, I also lay a lot of the blame at Harry's door for changing the system. Defoe has always played 4-4-2, and more often than not been relied upon as the person who scores the goals. VDV coming in and stealing his thunder, as well as most of his movement on the pitch, was not the fault of Defoe. However, as clearly VDV is going to be an important part of our squad moving forward, Defoe is going to have to work hard to adapt, along with every other player. I am greatly in favour of our using a number of systems in order to win games, or close out stronger sides, as I believe that it has been our tactical ineptness that has cost us games in the past, especially against the stronger sides.
