WE need to treat each away game same as we did when we had to go to City to stay up … it's that easy because we simply won't get anything until he changes his ideas away from home

It's the LR fans who win our home games not him

Constantly setting up for away games hoping to nick a 0-0, and inevitably failing, makes every home game a must-win. Anything less than 3 points on Saturday and we are back in the ****.

Our away set up is massively different. Largely because full backs are allowed to push on at home but away they have to sit and stay.

Barton and Henry sit. So it's left to Fer and Vargas playing out of position to drive our creativity while massively out numbered with no one in any space to give it to.

In the 8 away games so far this season including Burton we are losing 18-2!! That's not energy that's mentality and tactical. Something needs to change.

And for me Henry is a massive weakness for us away from home. I'm just not buying the line he free's up others to be creative. Austin is the only player to score more than 1 goal and we are 14 games into the season and we've only scored 2 in 8 away games

With the full backs not being allowed to push on. We need more coming from the centre. At least Barton manages albeit at a horrendous pass completion to create the odd chance.

Either let the full backs do what they do at home games or drop Henry!! Personally i'd do both. Play Fer in the middle and Traore on the left

    Still plugging the Henry thing?

Well, if he's not creating or scoring like you say, then he's no worse than anyone else then is he? We are still leaking goals though and he is better defensively than Vargas, Fer or Barton so we do need better players in that department.

Your arguments against him don't stack up Peter.

Harry's ambitions for the team when we play away are just too conservative. With a prudent approach, attack can be the best form of defence.

Fair play to Harry, he gives opposition credit unlike most managers who bleat on about not playing well when they lose.
No consolation for fans but as a Swans fan we have rarely ever won a game - other teams tend to lose, especially the more established ones.

Slob, every time you lose a game or draw at home, does Gary Monk say its because the opposition was too good and nothing to do with him or his players?

Monk has said it but too often blames refs (sometimes it's hard not to agree).
Brendon Rodgers and, more so, Michael Laudrup usually did acknowledge the opposition especially when the loss was comprehensive. TBH when we lose I'd rather it be to a better team than a lucky one. I'm a long time, died in the wool (no sheep comments please) Swans fan but sometimes you just have to hold up your hands and admit the opposition were a better team.
This is still a league where anyone can beat anyone else (possibly not Chelsea) and still so much to play for - still only third of the way through the season.

Agreed. But you don't understand that Redknapp does this every single time. Just look at the OP Slob FFS!

7 defeats in 7 away matches and Harry says its just because the opposition are always better than us

I think harry is going to lose the dressing if he continues with this sit back style its clearly not working, yet when he played five at the back it didn't work and he changed it back within two games?

Very true, I think we're winning at home in spite of Harry and it's mainly down to the fans imo.

Monk said that this was his team's best all-round performance of the season so there IS something in HR's observations that we have always come up against very strong opposition on the road so far. Make no mistake, things have been tough and we have been unlucky, going close to getting a point on several occasions. But here's the news: there are no easy pickings in the PL. Statistically most teams will always concede at least one goal per game and if you have set things up to look for 0-0 a) you are not likely to score yourself and b) it is much harder to come back when that goal inevitably goes in. This tactic has now SEEN to have failed and surely must be changed.

Taken at face value Harolds claims have some logic as the league table stands at the moment we have played away the teams that are currently:

    1st - Chelsea-----1sr
    3rd - Saints-----2nd
    4th - Man U------14th (we we're actually 12th when we played them)
    5th - WHU-----13th
    6th - Swans-----8th
    9th - Spurs ------8th
    10th - Toon-----8th

However the positions to the right show where they were before we played them, so in fact we have played 2 sides from the lower half of the table....he seems to be missing the point that they have all got to be top 10 sides by actually beating us.....why is he so afraid to take a gamble and try to get a result away from home, apart from Chelsea possibly most sides are capable of dropping points at home.....we should not be in awe of these teams we have the players that can take on the best......the home form will look after itself but we have to get something like 10/12 points on the road to give ourselves a chance.....

AAAGH, its no coincidence that Swansea, Spurs, United etc are having their best performances against us.

You're falling for 'Arrys bullsh*t, brother

Just call it 5-4-1, and stuff it at the back.

How about that? We wanted to try 3-5-2, so just switch it around and call it 5-4-1, stuff the back and call it a day.

Line up with 3 in the middle and 2 wing backs. There's really no difference there for us, I think, at this point in the season. If we're not going to press a bit more in attacking on away games, why not. Especially when we're going to be so defensive.

    Isla-Onuoha-Dunne-Caulker-Yun

    Vargas-Mutch-Henry-Traore

    Austin

At least we'd be somewhat fast down the right side. Sometimes that's enough! :emoticon-0102-bigsm

    Just sayin'
