One worth a look at a decent price tomorrow. Missed the 20's but 14-1 is still available for HIGHWAY CODE 2:40 Ludlow. A winner off a slightly higher mark than this in the past. His last run was over too far and the drop to the minimum trip will certainly suit. The biggest reason however for getting stuck in to this horse is the reappearance in the saddle of Sir Dickie Johnson. Probably the most underrated jockey in the NH sphere in my opinion and his record on this horse reads 12323. If he makes the frame again we will be happy people at that price but I think he can win. Please please please no non runners for the bookies eh!
Yes, his presence on Lee 's horses usually means business -soft ground is his preferred surface, so the drying ground is not ideal -gives the rivals more chance -but I also believe he must be fit and ready so it's a great price!
Good luck Stick - into 8/1 now. Only one stands out for me today - 2:50 Catt - Blackwell Synergy 7/2. Bounced back to form over fences last time a couple of lengths behind Wood Yer. Is 2lb higher for that but has won off higher over hurdles. Worth a poke I reckon. Good luck all!!
2.10 Kingsmere Managed to snaffle some 8s last night on a horse that was in my tracker with the line "watch for his return to chasing now that he has had another spin over hurdles". He returns to fences today, and I think he is one to be with, from what is a fair handicap mark. He has a touch of class about him on his day, and I think conditions today should suit him perfectly, and as he should be primed for today, I think he is a stonking bet.

Hello, I’m Barney Chuckles. You may remember me from threads such as ‘Does JP have a ‘thing’ for AP?’ and ‘What's the best betting shop in Wootton Bassett?’. As I said earlier in the week Mr Henderson sends a decent crew to Catterick Bridge today and I’d expect him to secure a double courtesy of COCKTAILS AT DAWN (1.50) and TAYLOR (2.20). I’ve been ranting on about the former for the best part of 2 years and still believe he will be very, very good over fences. He should come on enormously for a highly satisfactory chasing bow, at Ascot, and really should deliver this afternoon. Meanwhile, the latter should also oblige for the first time after being placed at Listed level in the old Bumper sphere and finishing runner-up on her hurdling introduction, last month. The run will have brought her on hugely and the old girl should be swifter, I say swifter, than her opposition ‘oooooooooooooop North’ later on this afternoon. Good luck all.
Barney, you know what, I wouldn't be surprised to see that Cocktails At Dawn turned over today. The mare at the bottom is very interesting, and I wouldn't be surprised to see a small upturn in the form of that ones yard today. Not a betting race, but old boy Cocktails At Dawn blundered more on chase debut than Barney would if he was on a date with old Edwina, and I am afraid that rumours from the county set is that Barney isn't the smoothest talker.
Nass, yes, Doyly Carte is an interesting one. Although she is owned by the dreaded Elite Racing Club. Incidentally, I wonder how many of their members will get thrown out of the ‘Owners and Trainers stand' prior to ‘tapes up’?!? Back to the mare and she was very good over hurdles (Listed winner and Grade 2 placed) but I’m quite surprised they are switching her to fences rather than the breeding sheds following her performances in such a Grade. Very valuable addition to any back paddock after that. Don’t worry though, old boy, about any jumping blips re Cocktails At Dawn Mr Henderson’s ‘magic hands’ would have ironed out any problems. Meanwhile, I doubt if I would ever be so lucky enough to go on a date with the lovely Edwina. Although I have met her once.
What happened to Nicky the Needle's Cocktail at Dawn - been hearing its a superstar for the past 18 months ??
He fell at the 8th. Nass was right in that his jumping ultimately didn’t hold up and he crashed out as a result. Don’t give up on Cocktails At Dawn though, Dayo, in fact you never know I might still be going on about him in another 18 months! There’s something for you all to look forward to. Taylor failed again to get her head in front. Current connections paid an absolute fortune for her earlier in the year and after 3 runs for Mr Henderson you have to question whether this was money well spent.
Very dodgy looking race in the last at Lingfield. Haines was travelling at ease in front when it looked like the jockey got worried and visibly pulled him back for around a furlong to actively lose his place, once he thought the race was gone he pushed him around the outside again to make up the ground he gave willingly to make it look as though he was trying to close but knew full well he would never catch the leader who had been allowed to go. Matt Chapman was giving an awful lot of benefit of the doubt to the claimer and suggesting it just a poor ride, it looked beyond poor however, it looked like someone making sure the horse did not win. It could have just been poor but I assure you were that a regular jockey that ride would be investigated.
