Give over JS for goodness sake. Nobody is even trying to say we were back to being title contenders. I doubt anybody would even go as far as saying that we wre good. But we at least scrapped for what we got which is a hell of a lot better than the surrender monkeys that we had become. They have only lost 1 game at home before tonight and held some very decent sides to draws. So fair does to our lads who whilst still struggling came from behind to win and scored 3 goals in the process.

Like it or not, until we find a new way of playing effectively with the players that we've got, we are going to have to get used to seeing Liverpool scrap for their points. The main thing is that we are now starting to win again - even if it is nasty!!!

Toure had another good game. Obviously found some form for the moment. Made a couple of very important tackles and clearances, showing some authority in getting the ball away when everyone else was trying to play it sideways in front of goal. It was our best performance for a long time, we looked like we had a clue, but it was still way below par in terms of where we all want the club to be. For me it's telling that three midfielders got all the goals, two of them - Hendo and Gerrard - having as much defensive duties as attacking. We need to sort out our striker situation. Of course we can't force an injured Sturridge to play but apart from him we're completely blunt up top.

Two wins on the trot, which is nice.

Hopefully we can get a bit of confidence in the squad which is the perfect environment for the new players to start having a bit more of an impact. (As substitutes.)

We clearly are not going to see the free flowing onslaughts we grew accustomed to last year. But I am enjoying seeing gutsy performances and us picking up points again.

BR did say about 10 games ago that things were going to get worse before they got batter. Hopefully that has happenned and the team is going to improve from here on in. What that improvement means i dont know. Im certainly not thinking of us as top four contenders, but as long as i see the players giving of their best and working as a team then im happy.

Squad seems to have regressed since last year, but **** happens and there is nothing short of pissing and moaning we can do about it. When you expect nothing, everything that comes your way is a bonus.

Going to be optimistic about us from now on. Looking forward to:

    1. Can bedding in and proving to be a combative and dynamic midfield player for us.
    2. Suso returning from injury and finally getting his deserved chances
    3. Watching Ibe on loan At Derby and being hopeful of him being a great forward threat for us next year
    4. Gerrard playing 1 in 2/3 in an advanced role.
    5. Carling Cup coming up and some future local boys getting a go. (Rossiter)

Loads to feel good about as a Liverpool fan... All going to be rosy from here on in.

Those are all good points - trouble is will they come true - and when?!

    1. Rodgers doesn't seem interested in playing him even though when he's come in he's done well.
    2. Rodgers doesn't rate Suso. He's been ready for a year now.
    3. Potential - if Rodgers rates him.
    4. One I am looking forward to (if he signs). He's an attacking midfielder at heart. Playing less games, up top, he can make and start scoring a few decent goals.
    5. Hopefully some can indeed do well and earn a first team opportunity.

good point... yes they are all possible but some are if and whens.

The carling cup QF is the only real thing to look to. We need to take it seriously.

    I agree with bow.

    1. can needs fitness to force out some of these other guys. He's done ok when given a go but needs 10 games to come to terms with the prem and the work rate needed... not that the others show it mind

    2. I agree rodgers has no time for suso... i do not agree he's that "ready" as i don't know myself where best to play the guy.

    3. Ibe > markovic... scandalous decision to spunk 20mil there...

    4. Gerrard should not play v sunderland. IMO ther eis a big big danger he's already looking at basel and utd as a player and will just not turn in v sunderland anyway.

Rodgers is talking crap when it comes to Gerrard, recently it was he's fit and can play, now it's he needs the rest.

I think maybe at heart he always thought the best way to manage him is every other game but was just worried about the backlash if Stevie was dropped.

He could become the manager where Stevie decided to leave Liverpool - which could look bad to a lot of people, with a large potential for criticism coming his way.

I think Rodgers was pandering previously to what he thought was fan opinion to play him all the time, when in fact most of us recognise he wasn't playing well enough, and needs to be managed to get the best of him.

Take your point, but hasn't Lambert now scored or assisted a goal in each of the last four games (Ludo, Palace, Stoke, Leicester)? He's certainly contributing. If we had a decent striker instead of Mario, it wouldn't look too bad. Then again, Mario's injured anyway.

    he's done "ok"

the oppostion were LUDO, PALACE, STOKE, LEICESTER... jsut felt like shouting back exactly who you told me <laugh>

Let me be clear stoke are the best out of that lot. midtable. Palace and leicester are relegation candidates and ludo are prob championship at best.

We are shortly to play Man utd and arsenal... i think that will show the issues quite starkly.

the old fella is a trier but he's far too slow for the top 6... and lets be frank what LFC are about this year is trying to top everton and spurs and beat off the up and comers like west ham, swansea and southampton. (thats lukaku, soldado/kane, sahko/valencia, bony, pelle)

now frnakly wihout sturridge our forward line is worse than all of those revials.

utd have rooney, rvp and falcoa... arsenal have giroud and wellbeck...

simply put lambert is still option C for me. just cos badontelly has been awful should not distract us form where we want to be and lambert, borini and balotelli are NEVER getting us there. I think what you are saying is ok.. sturridge plus A.N.Other plus lambert not too bad but thats not where we are at and we look to have to shift two to get there....

Agree with all that. Then again, do we think that Balotelli would have had the same impact in those four games? More to the point, it doesn't matter who we have if they're injured. Without Rooney and RVP, Utd just have Falcao. Without Giroud and Welbeck, Arsenal have Sanogo and the Costa Rican fella whose name escapes me right now. Without Costa and Remy, who do Chelsea have? Lambert as a third choice isn't bad compared to our rivals. (I realise I'm comparing Lambert to Falcao, but so far Lambert's had the better impact). Borini also isn't that bad, but then he hardly plays. Our problem isn't Lambert and Borini per se; it's that Sturridge is injured and Balotelli hasn't worked out. Then again, these two situations were certainly foreseeable before the season started.

Also, just to note that our last six goals were by five different scorers, so we're spreading the duties. All of them English as well.

no cos he's a lasy ****e... we lost to palace... the ludo goal was a joke from them... stoke... dunno that was a bad game for us. all in all.... he's still only done ok... we need a striker in jnuary and the club have the bear the cost of borini and balotelli and not use them as excuses not to. ffs i think we will be paying off borini and "aint too bad" should read a f'n **** for not leaving and giving us 14mil to waste on another player... I find him not moving nearly as annoying as signing badontelly.

Of course, but to replace Balotelli, not Lambert. When Origi comes in the summer, we'll then hopefully have three decent strikers and Lambert as back-up next season.

Fair point. We need to sell Balotelli and use whatever pittance he's now worth, plus any other funds raised through other transfers this winter, or leftover from summer, and hopefully bolstered by a generous injection from our benevolent owners to get a striker of quality.

Said back in July that we should be trying to buy Bony and not touch Ballo with s barge pole. Wish we had now.
