Let's hope that 0-3 drubbing by City was the beginning of the wheels coming off for Southampton (or at least for their next game anyway)
Agree with the sentiment. Half of me wants Southampton to recover and offer some form of new threat to the title - the other half is yelling "not yet!"
I always love an underdog and love to see teams like Southampton doing well... just as long as it isn't against Arsenal or at our expense!
Same here, I have a lot of respect for Southampton and what they have achieved. But sentiment aside, i'm looking for a win. Fortunately for us, we are playing them at just at the right time. We are playing better and they just got a spanking from City. I'm feeling confident that we'll get a win. 2-0 and i'll be happy.
Yup, I would go with that starting 11. Put Wellback up top and bring the Ox back in. Gonna be a tough game, this Southampton side a pretty dangerous going forward.
I'm much less confident now Schneiderlin's out. That is a massive loss to Saints. As much as Sanchez would be to you. Anyway, I'll be travelling up like I did in October and whatever the result, will enjoy it immensely.
Not having Schneiderlin is a big blow to the saints and should help us dominate the MF. As mentioned our back four looks a lot better now Kos is back. Does anybody know whether Gibbs or Monreal will start ? Both got injured at West Brom
This. I hope you lot smash them. Nothing against Southampton and reallly pleased for them, but I want their confidence as low as possible when we play them after you. A couple of suspensions wouldn't go amiss either lol.
If both are out I'd either go with a back 4 of: LB: Koscielny CBs: Mertesacker and Chambers RB: Bellerin Or LB: Bellerin CBs: Mertesacker and Koscielny RB: Chambers
I'd prefer your second option Oxo I have to say. I think Merts looks a lot more comfortable with Kos, and the second option means that RB and both CB's are in their natural positions (and mostly 1st choice), with only LB a problem - but apparently Bellerin can play LB as well.
According to PhysioRooms Walcott & Szczesny will be back for the weekend - which will be great, especially with Kos back and Oxo, Sanchez and Cazorla on form, gives us more solidity at the back and more competition in the AM positions. http://www.physioroom.com/news/english_premier_league/epl_injury_table.php
Like Everton I think Southampton will be a team we'll always struggle against, they'll be well up for this one I remember the game at St Marys last season, they could have been 5-0 up at half time
The difference sometimes is the quality personnel up front to finish. We have that and Southampton hasn't. They will have to make everything count and play a great game. We can get away playing decent and win.
