Liverpool transfer news: Glen Johnson expects Anfield exit as Roma eye free transfer for England defender http://www.independent.co.uk/sport/...ee-transfer-for-england-defender-9894946.html
**** we better get a move on for top 4 Maybe we can offer for them to take him for free in January. His wages can be used for Cech
Can you imagine if GJ and the club came to an agreement on a contract extension This place would go ballistic
As the song goes; "So Long, Farewell, Aufedersein, **** off!" Roma, the home of past it English fullbacks. Hope Johnson has an awkward team photo as well.
It's really quite sad that it's come to this with Johnson. Also, as much as it's deserved, it seems a little distasteful considering the winning goal he got at the weekend.
Pleased he got the goal that looked like it wasn't going to arrive, brave header and all that. HOWEVER,it doesn't excuse the last two seasons of utter dross that he's served up.Just not good enough.
I'm both happy for our current situation to have him leaving, and sad that it's come to this. He did after all give his best years to us without much personal success for him. On his day he was great, but those days came too few lately. I give him stick because he is playing like ****, not because I dislike him. At the end of the day it's best for both parties to part ways. In Italy he will find a new calling given that he will have 3 defenders staying back to defend wherever he goes. Still, it's hard to feel sorry for someone making 120k per week.
People forget he was dog **** as far back as when Woy was in charge. He has been resting on his laurels for so long.
I wasn't making excuses for him, he should be ashamed of the last two years. Just think the situation is quite sad (in the true sense of the word)
I'm only ageing to two years because he had a brief stint where he seemed to refind some form. He was bass under Roy too but I wouldn't put the blame entirely in glen's corner for that.
The thing I always say about his performances under Roy - and Kenny, was the fact he was apathetic to how the team were performing. He was very lazy and regularly left our cb's exposed when he went forward and didn't track back with any authority. Was just the air of a man who did not stand up to be counted when we were up against the wall - quite happy to take a big wage and cocoon himself at home from the bad times. Ironically that header on the weekend was totally against the grain, and he deserves credit for that. His attacking threat is also a myth, and in fact contributes to his defensive frailties. He was great when he first joined (although never a brilliant defender), and with the exception of the odd run of games, has been bang average - and in more recent years - terrible. We need to stop the goals leaking in, and Johnson has been a big part of this problem for a while. Irritated we've waited so long we won't make any money. Very poor management by Rodgers and whoever.
Can't argue with any of that bar the making money part, that was never going to happen because we spent a ludicrous amount on him. However, I suspect you mean us purely getting something for him rather than making a profit on his transfer fee.
