At the end of last season Ferguson claimed that there would be 3 new signings this summer and he has been true to his word. Why should we believe that there will be anymore? Well I believe that De Gea and Young were definitely on his list for this summer. The Jones signing in my opinion was brought forward from next summer as at least 3 sides made official bids for him this summer. It forced Ferguson into acting now and so Jones was brought in earlier than anticipated. Anyway I still think there is business to be done. Ferguson usually comes out and says business is done when its done. So if there is to be a CM brought in this summer who do we want it to be and more importantly who do we THINK it will be. I believe Nasri is the number one target. But Wenger selling him to a big rival is a different story.
I think Fergie is looking for a centre mid player and then that will be it for us in this transfer window period.
I think the Nasri deal may just be a smoke screen to get the media attention whilst we work on Sneidjer (sp), well hopefully anyway. I only think this as regardless of contract I don't think Wenger will sell to United. In regards to Nasri though it will be interesting as he has said money isn't everything and he wants to win things. If he leaves for Citeh after saying that he will look like a dick.
He only has one year left on his contract so if he did want to join Man Utd he could really force Wenger to sell to us, otherwise he'll leave on a free next summer.
I think there will be one more signing. CM im sure. Nasri would be a great addition. I dont remember him making many long range passes so not sure about the Scholes replacement thing. Young can play central so he may actually be the CM, who knows. Anyone decent would be a great addition. I fancied Ganso, but his match last night was awful. He was no better than Gibson lol. I say just cough up the 40mil for Neymar, huge risk, but he's 19 and does the simple stuff well, can pass really well, great turn of pace and doesnt frustrate as much as Ronnie did at that age or Nani does STILL. Play Young in the middle and and him on the left and have them rotate. Would never happen considering who are in for him.
As a supporter, I would definitely want a CM to come on board, although that doesn't mean that Ferguson necessarily feels the same way. I can't see too many more signings. If we were to get one high quality central midfield player in, I think that would probably conclude our business, at least in terms of "major" signings. I'm happy with the other signings so would be pretty pleased with our dealings if we were to get that one player in. I can't see it being Nasri, with City now being on the scene on that one.
I'm not sure who is too realistic or not to come. Some people will mention Nasri but being at a rival side Wenger will not want to sell. Nasri will basically have to act like a ****er to get a move here, and that is if he is desperate. Nobody really in this league would be good enough except maybe Modric but he wants to go to Chelsea. Players from abroad are much more complicated to work out. How much will they cost? Will they want to come?
With foreign imports it's difficult to know who would work out in the Prem. Many people take for granted how hard it can be to adapt to any new league. It's definitely easier to move from the prem to slower leagues like in Spain and Italy cos you can adjust at your own pace as u have more time on the ball. I think we would need to sign someone from a similarly fast league. The closest to ours is the French league... so someone like Valbuena, Hazard, M'Vila, Gourcuff (he's gone off the boil recently tho) would not go amiss. Maybe someone frm the Brazilian league; they have changed their ethos and now produce faster, stronger, bigger and more athletic players, plus thier Brazilian so would be rather skillful too. There are soooooo many good players out there, any one would certainly improve us. Mentality is a major factor too. "will he be able to do it on a cold winter night away at Stoke" cliche comes to mind lol
Brazilians are notorious in England for not adapting to the country and especially putting the weight on. If Neymar is available for £40m then we should just steer clear. Fergie knows what he's doing. Let the idiots with too much money bid for him.
I agree. I wouldn't go for Neymar either if i had the 40mil to spend, was just chucking out an idea if no real CM is available. Mentality is the major thing. Robinho had a track record for being a moaner anyway, he did it at Santos, did it in Madrid and then at Citeh! Well the others dont moan but dont really try to get to adapt. Look at the Brazilians playing in Ukraine (Shakatar and whatnot); they get Brazilian TV, Brazilian shops, Brazilian Restaurants, and stick to their Brazilian cliques, Jadson, Douglas Costa et al. They openly said they dont bother learing the language or getting to know the place. Just shows the mentality. Maybe Ando will finally get over his leg break of 4 years ago and finally try to do something!
My personal opinion is that I don't think we'll see the true potential of Anderson this season. Hopefully I'm wrong but he has made little to no progress since joining United and the less said about Kleberson the better.
I know he wouldn't sign him. I was talking about it in terms of CM anyway. Lets get Nasri, would be soooo funny to look at the gooners without Cesc and Nasri cos i seem to remember them giving us stick about Ronnie.
I've always considered Bastian Schweinsteiger as the best possible signing but didn't think we had a chance. Listening to Talksport this morning and now there's a rumour surfacing that it could be on. Probably bollocks but if we get him then that's all we need. Job done.
Nah German players who play for Bayern Munich are notoriously hard to sign. Especially one as important as Schweinstiger. He is a local lad and supported them as a boy plus he is their vice captain. Just won't happen in my opinion. I reckon De Rossi is the same scenario. Will not leave his boyhood side. I don't think there is much better out there either on offer who we could realistically buy so I am holding out for Nasri.
