    Yes.

  2. Rodgers finally drops Slippy G. That ought to give 'Pool greater balance and get them playing more solidly.

However, losing a club talisman won't do much for the squad's confidence.

This could get very, very messy.

Indeed a messy game with both teams not deserving all three points.

Johnson now first name on the team sheet which is a huge worry, he's also looking for a new contract as it's up this Summer. <steam>

  5. The tabloids have been whipping themselves into a right old tizz over Slippy G being dropped, but none of the idiot hacks appear to have worked out that Rodgers got his tactics bang on!

That's a tad harsh, he has always been a decent player, no Lampard I'll grant you but decent nontheless.

Don't think he'll be fired just yet, but if we finish outside of the top 6 then it will be a close call.

Studge being injured has been a killer - but that's just unlucky, especially as it was on international duty.

Balo was not his signing - his was a big gamble by the club which has spectacularly failed. We can't score and we haven't improved at the back = more draws and losses.

However - Brendan has spent over £100 mill - and that's not looking good I'm afraid Mr Rodgers. For every good signing there are 3, expensive, flops.

He have to be the most wasteful club in Premier League history.

His handling of letting Reina go for nothing, and sticking with Minolet has also massively failed, and now we're looking to spend (Again) to get ourselves out of it.

He's in a right mess its true.

You are the most wasteful side in football post 1990 officially.

    Doesn't surprise me.

Problem we have is we cannot attract top talent so we spend on people who do not improve on what we have.

Then we do that every 3/4 years whilst the genuine top talent leaves or grows old / gets forced out.

We've been a team that constantly goes for quantity over real quality. Some times its justified but others not so. United got lucky managing to bring through 5 quality players in 1992 which bulked up their squad for free but it meant they could spend £40m on 2 quality players and leave it at then. Then the following year could do the same and keep buying 1 or 2 big quality players each year.

We on the othr hand had to keep selling and trying to bulk up the squad and keep buying players for £5-12m, a lot of which are just below CL quality. Same happened this year... Chelsea went and got Fab & Costa for £70m, 2 quality players to improve the 1st team. WE went and spent a lot on bulking out the squad while not dramatically improving the first team.

The bit in bold is comical in so many ways that it's too late to go into it now. Thanks for posting it though, let's discuss tomorrow!

  13. They've not figured out that Liverpool fans aren't exactly outraged either. Sure, Stevie got a good reception when he came off the bench but that was purely to show the support and admiration we have for him IMO, not a way of telling Brod to continue picking him to play every minute.

Not lucky at all. When Fergie took over he knew it was a big job and wanted to get the youth system sorted. He sent scouts all over the country and poached... sorry, I mean convinced the best ones to join Man Utd. They even tried to take a couple of ours too. Look at the youngsters that came through the ranks around the same time but weren't part of that five, a lot of them were PL players too. No club gets that lucky!

Can't do that nowadays though because every club is looking for the next big thing and its no longer restricted to just these shores. No club can scout every single player world wide so its about having the right reputation and contacts.

After my above comment and then seeing this, I'm off for a ****ing shower <grr>

This is why pre-season for many years I'll bang on about just signing 1 or 2 players and use the young lads that we have, I'dd rather us buy 1 or 2 real quality players and then use what we have, we have an academy for a reason.

    United got lucky eh?

So fact chelsea have no youth system makes them desperately unlucky i guess.

Yeah the word lucky has to be considered as any Academy is there to do exactly that, to get such a crop together? Was it luck or did the staff involved recognise the talent and develop them with a view to first team footy I'd have to give the staff the credit but some may argue that point with so may of them coming through at once.

I'm sure the Nevilles and Nicky Butt would be delighted to be called quality players by the same people who slated them during their playing careers.
