We looked better than Spurs on Sunday too until the sending off, so that puts us massively clear of them

The Spurs display up to Ramirez being sent off was one of the most shambolic I have seen them play to date having watched all their matches this season. Their defense was pathetic and we didn't take advantage of this and missed 2 good chances to increase the lead, so I didn't see this as anywhere near a good performance at all. Disappointing would sum it up for me.

Last season Sunderland, lying bottom 4 points adrift of the next club and 6 points adrift of the next with 6 games to play, escaped by beating among others Chelsea and Manchester United away and drawing away at Manchester City. Their season was certainly not decided by results against teams in the bottom half although wins against Cardiff and West Brom in this period did help.

The reason I dont care about relegation is because I was watching Hull City at a time when we could only dream of playing in the Championship. The vast, vast majoroty of my favourite memories of watching Hull City for 30 years come from non-Premier League games. The only Premier League memory that would make my top 10 Hull City moments was the win at the Emirates. So why should I therefore be whimpering into my cornflakes about the possibility that we might be back playing in a lower league? I'm not brainwashed by Sky, the football world doesnt begin and end with the Premier League.

And whoop di doo about something I said on an internet profile. Ive probably been to 1000% more Hull City games than Internazionale ones.

it looks even worse now. Are we as good as teams like Sunderland, QPR and Palace ?
    Just can't see it.

I suggest you look at who we've played, then at who are playing in the next six games. Those are the matches that will define our season. We've never survived a second season in the top flight so to do so would be good enough for me.

I don't think there has been a game this season in which we have looked great. Spells and moments maybe but this season so far has been dreadful and we look like the worst or at least top 2 of the worst teams in the league. We are bottom of the form table with Leicester but at least they have had some spirited performances such as the game against Man Utd.

Arsenal game is possibly the only exception and that is likely because they lifted their performance because of the FA Cup.

My problem isn't losing but the style in which we are losing. Abysmal passing, lack of ambition, square balls, back passing, long balls and giving away possession.

It seems the in thing for some people on here to either burry their heads in the sand, brush things under the carpet and no be frank and honest about just a bad things are beginning to look. I don't know why but the obsession with calling people poodles and sitting on the fence just so that in the case we going on a winning streak they can turn round and say I told you so ....poodle.

I don't want Bruce to be sacked but the FA Cup really papered over the cracks of just how bad 2014 has been in terms of league. I think it is something like 4/5 league wins in the whole of 2014 which is disgraceful.

The next 6 games are make or break and will be very telling. We have just played 5 of the best teams in a row and Burnley game was an exception. Come christmas if the results are the same and we are in the same position then maybe it is time Bruce left.

And the so called poodles are probably nervous because Bruce has done similar things with other clubs.

    Stop the rot.

Good post and pretty much agree with all of it.

We need to start being more positive and try and assert ourselves on games to develop some confidence going forward. It's going to take some bottle to change the largely negative stance we've had for the vast majority of this particular stay in the premier league but if he doesn't do it, you can only see failure ahead and in a pretty miserable fashion.

We are nowhere near a relegation team and the next few weeks will prove that to be so.

<laugh> Nonsense, anything could have happened between now and then, if players had stayed fit we probably wouldn't be in this mess and we could have signed half a dozen players in January and changed everything, it was just a whinge after a poor October.

Interesting how he was slated by several posters for a valid observation. Are we allowed to criticise the team and bruce now?

He wasnt making the statement based on what could happen, he based it on what was happening.

Everyone keeps ****ing bleating on about injuries when every single team gets players injured. All of a sudden our season fell apart when Snodgrass knackered his knee when the reality is he was a really really poor signing who has become better every single week since he was injured. I've already stuck my neck out and said if he hadnt been injured he wouldnt be playing regularly anyway and he'd be as much of a derided signing as Hernandez.

It is isnt it? Some people should feel more than a little embarrassed by their responses to him, but knowing this board they wont.

if our team always played and got results like we did recently against Man City and Chelsea we would be relegated for sure but would we be complaining about the squad ?

Im not sure what people are expecting differently from the players , we have easilly lost 15-20pts over the season solely down to individual errors or moments of brilliance and desperation .
we have failed to turn up for 5 or 6 games but i dont think anyone makes this a conscious decision .
Another manager may have cracked it , got us scoring at all our chances , stopped us conceding what is probably 1 in every 3 shots on target , but we still have a very good XI , difficult to break down AND if we can play our wingers in we can cause trouble up top .

Because of this i think our compromise is in the middle , spoiled by a variety of reasons to missing players like Diame , Ramirez , Huddlestone (missing 20yds too deep)

**** that. I'm not giving credit to moaning ****s who were moaning about summat that hadn't happened at that point.

If our form had picked up and we'd finished the season half way up the league, would you have bumped this thread to point out what a load of **** Putter65 had been talking 5 months ago?
