Really, I thought he did OK. Lets face it, after the 1st goal, the defence got no protection at all. You'd have thought that we'd have learned from the Villa game but apparently not.
Yeah he did fine… apart from being woefully out of position for the crucial second goal (and turning his back as the shot was released). Admittedly, we gave the ball away poorly in the build-up too. Obviously this all stemmed from losing Schneiderlin though. We need greater depth in the squad basically.
Man City are good no question. But the one thing that annoyed me was not getting the ball into their box enough. We were guilty of trying to manufacture the perfect position and gave the ball away too often trying to do so (e.g. their second goal). Occasionally, a tad of "get in in the box" can pay off. Pelle did seem to win a fair bit in the air, as did Long when he came on. I will say this only once, despite how well Wanyama and Schneiderlin played, we missed Cork's link play. I didn't realise he was ill as I was about to say that if he can't get a game when Davis is injured and he can't get a game when Schneiderlin is injured, its bye bye Jack.
We didn't miss Cork's link play. We missed Davis playing well and his link play. Cork is the obvious replacement for Morgan if he doesn't recover for Wednesday, but to say we missed his link play today is very Cork-tinted (again).
We missed many things today, but I'm not sure any of those things were to be found in sufficient quantity on the bench.
Well at least no we've learnt our lesson that we can't sit back and let the big teams play against us. Arsenal & United have weak defences so lets get at them fast.
come on man city could beat most of us with 10 men , they are way way above teams like us with the class of players they have. The have to have an off day which can happen to us all for any of us to get a result..Chelsea are the same, these two teams are class..
True, and the 'big' teams feel like they're beginning to find their feet a bit. Moreover, we have to play at our best to get something in these games, and today we really weren't.
Unfortunately not quite as weak as they were before the international break. I noticed that Rojo and Koscielny made their respective comebacks yesterday, unfortunately.
Don't agree - even before they were down to 10, they were comfortable getting men back behind the ball, pressing Clyne and Bertrand and stopping our attacks. As soon as they WERE down to 10, they just got 10 men packed in a ring around the box and did everything they could to break up our play. We just weren't good enough to break down a very resilient, experienced team who probably cost about 5 times the amount as our team. Nothing to beat ourselves up on, just shows that they're now looking at our style of play and dealing with it. We needed Tadic to go to the left and Long on the right to break into them and make them worried - the last 20 minutes of the first half we were doing that and we had them all over the place at the back. Unfortunately, we slacked off for the first goal and were then chasing the game which allowed them to get at us and score 2 more, effectively, break-away goals. I thought Jose kept Aguero quiet (and when he didn't Clyne had him), we missed the bite in midfield and we will get better. Hey - if someone at the beginning of the season had told me we'd be 3rd at the beginning of December, I'd have been extremely happy, so it's not the end of the world. With the size of their squads we were never going to finish above City or Chelsea, so we'd best get at the next games and get as many points as we can to stay in 3rd place!!! COYS!!! We march on!!!
