Come off it mate, you can be like a dog with a bone when someone disagrees with you, just like many of us. Apart from that, I agree with the rest of your well thought out post.
I agree Col, I work with people from all over the Globe here in Norway. The Brits usually support all the British clubs in Europe, the French the French Clubs, the Italians the Italian, and so on. And most all give the Norwegians Clubs a shout too seeing as we live here, though they have not been giving too much to shout about lately! As you say it seems natural, and not just patriotic as people seem to support teams from both where they come from originally and where they live now, despite them having their own Team they are behind in the respective national leagues.
They were coached/managed by the brilliant and excentric Marcelo Bielsa back then. He's now at Marseille and have totally transformed them making them the most entertaining team to watch in the process. Playing a type of football rarely seen in France, taking them to the top of the league by doing so. I know you have found Germany as a great place to watch football, I advice you to check out Marseille (under Bielsa) if you get the chance.
With only 10 men Man City are going gangbusters at Southampton, now 3-0 up with what they call in ice hockey a couple of short-handed goals. Saints certainly had their opportunities earlier in the game, but appear to have thrown in the towel in this match. Agüero, who was wrongly yellow carded for simulation when he should have been awarded a penalty spurned the opportunity for another when clear through onto a long ball and one on one with Forster (who should have come out for the ball).
Yes, that was a beauty from Miralass, a goal out of nowhere (like Schlupp yesterday) - a good response from Spurs though. I wonder if this guy will still have that smile on his face come FT? He was certainly celebrating the equalizing goal:- please log in to view this image Even Levy sometimes cracks a smile:- please log in to view this image
I wonder if Spurs can hold onto their 2-1 lead for the next 15 mins? Interesting stat the commentators mentioned - up until this game Spurs have lost more home games than any other team in the Premier League.
I do not follow the Canadian Football League (CFL), but today in Vancouver BC is the Grey Cup (akin to a Wembley Final). I believe the major difference CFL & NFL (National Football League - US) is that in the Canadian version you have three opportunities (downs) to make 10 yards compared to four in NFL. Back in 2002 whilst away at a conference in Ottawa, I attended a CFL game Ottawa v Edmonton. Compared to a soccer game, it is a very long afternoon with pom pom cheerleaders and frequent TV commercial breaks causing stoppages in play. please log in to view this image So hi ho silver - anyone care to try this out at the Crown & Sceptre or Coningham Arms? Why teams with quality players usually win... Last minute of the Turin derby at 1-1 and Juventus are down to 10 men when Pirlo does this...
And another one at Valencia where Busquets has just hit the winner for Barcelona with virtually the last kick...
Considering we can't get a single point away from home, we'll constantly need other teams to do us favours. Hopefully Everton can win a home game and City can win away tonight.
