Felt the guys were in awe of City to begin with, but it gradually sunk in that they're just another team. We can win this !!
I thought that was a good half, on balance. Playing a very good team but we've slowly got more and more into it. Both sides dangerous on attack. Big Vic has been *insert as yet uninvented superlative* so far. Magnificent.
A first half where we were sometimes short of composure, but are still on level terms. The openings are there, if we can make the right decisions.
Well that wasn't great but we weathered the early storm (with the help of a large slice of luck). City were probably the better team over the half but in terms of chances created there wasn't too much in it. Hopefully we play better in the second half.
Didn't notice the first time that Fonte's immediate reaction wasn't to contest whether he'd fouled him, but to suggest that it was outside the box. Heh, that's a bit of a giveaway.
It's an even game, though City should've had a pen. Tadić and Mane are ineffective, I think that's why we're so subdued going forward. I'd like to see Long.
Totally agree. There was a thing on the BBC (I think...) before the game pointing out the world class spine that Man City have. I don't think, in Alderweireld, Schneiderlin and Wanyama, ours is far off world class either. Perhaps missing that bit of genius up front (though Pellé has shown it a few times).
Neither Tadic or Mane are playing brilliantly. Mane is doing nothing defensively, one of the midfield lads keeps having to fill in, Betrand's bollocked him twice about it so far. Also he's not strong enough against Hart on corners he's letting him get out and punch every time. I do like him though, honest.
I'd keep it as is for now. They haven't been committing their fullbacks upfield as yet; I doubt that Pellegrini will play for the draw, so we're liable to see more space on the wings for Tadic's crossing and Mane's pace.
