That Connor Wickham is worth £40k a week easily. The one we've seen for most of the season isn't.

He was excellent yesterday. Catts MOTM. Immense again. Despite an 8-0 loss we have the best defence in the bottom half. Had the pen be given to us... Who knows.

Yesterday everyone played well. Pantillimon save in the first half was top class. And this performance comes when we have players returning from injury. Things looking good for us. Looking forward to Wednesday.

And the night was topped off with a cracking gig in Chester and meeting vincemac too... Great day all around.

Did anyone put the bet on where new customers got 4/1 against Chelsea with a £10 bet? My dad was going to but decided not to.

Interesting tweet on bbc as well from someone called Tom "the starting line ups resemble England v San Marino so no excuses for Chelsea today" hahahahaha!!

I love watching Vergini play monty. he's such an accomplished footballer. If the team continues to gel the way it seems to be and players keep on coming back and getting in on the action then things look bright for us. I can't believe the difference Altidore made. He never looked like scoring but our whole focus changed when he came on and for the better. Fletcher did ok but it wasn't his type of game.

Agree Marcus, it was always going to be a slog for Fletcher up against Terry and Cahill, Altidore looked to have that bit of extra strength and he also had the fresh legs.

We have to be proud of the whole team on a magnificent performance <ok>

All day sending off mate, it was a straight red. He tried to stamp his studs into O'Sheas face using both feet. Disgusting challenge right in front of the Ref, Linesman and the 4th official.

Watched goals on Sunday and listened to he co-commentator say "you can't blame Costa for getting annoyed"??? WTF? Imagine if that was o'Shea on Costa and the amount of stick he'd have got for kicking out! Pity it wasn't verging or reveillere (sp?) as I reckon they'd have gone down and got him sent off.

True enough, but a player should have to behave like they've just been shot in order for refs to take action. We shouldn't have to cheat just to force the correct decision. Friend has proved himself to be the worst all round official so far this season. 90k a year and he's not fit to ref a Sunday league game.

He is a shocking referee, its not just his biased decision making, its his attitude, he looks like he enjoys winding up players and crowds alike. The man is not fit for purpose.

Chelsea struggled to create meaningful openings for large swathes of the game on Wearside, with just six of their 24 shots testing goalkeeper Costel Pantilimon as they failed to score for the first time this season.

Yet Mourinho refrained from criticising his players or the opposition, instead accepting the Blues simply couldn't break down Gus Poyet's disciplined back line.

"It's a point. It was a difficult match. Only one team tried to win from the beginning, the other team didn't," he said.

"They defended a lot and they defended well. Defending a lot and well is not a crime. It is a strategy and it was successful for them.

"We were a bit tired towards the end and we left a bit of space.

"But I've got nothing negative to say about my team. It's not easy to play here and not easy to play against a side which has had all week to prepare. My players tried everything to win but we couldn't."

Poyet also gave credit to the Black Cats defence after the game.

He said: "My players defended for their lives. It was a day when the opposition could have played for three hours and they still would have found it difficult to score.

"We knew this was going to be a difficult game. We tried to be compact and I'm very pleased with our performance."
