Yesterday could have been a turning point. I think the Leicester game would tell us more.

Last season aside his record has been average. And last season couldn't have been achieved without Suarez - a player he didn't even buy.

Rodgers is having a mare and needs to get his **** together but look at it from another angle....do you trust us to replace him with someone better if we sacked him? The current owners don't exactly have an unblemished record in terms of staff recruitment themselves eh.

    Jen Chang?

Ian Ayre? (Ok he was headhunted by the cowboys but still keeps getting promoted by this lot)

Kenny who they sacked and Rodgers who's questionable?

There's no point blaming Rodgers for the signings until we know how the committee structure works. Plus half our signings are young players for the future who have amazing potential but we'll only see it in a couple of years.

I always expected this season to be a transition because of the squad expansion needed for European football, plus then Suarez leaving (I had him nailed on to leave next season until the World Cup bite and Barcelona's transfer ban about to kick in).

We can still get CL. If we do that plus a win a cup then he's met all of my targets.

People calling for him to be sacked are whinging morons, although I do appreciate the concerns about certain selections and substitutions. But bad form happens, especially when key players are injured.

The owners are probably concentrated on the stadium and making a drama over the manager now is not in their thinking unless there is a complete collapse.

Both fair points. His level prior to LFC was clearly not the same level the club aspires to be at, i.e. consistent top 4 / league contenders and good runs in the CL. He does lack experience. This is where his waffle comes in, it's to mask the inexperience. Having said that, if he gets us out of the CL group stages this season with the bunch of inexperienced CL players (notable exceptions aside) he's working with you have to give him some (small) credit.

i think that's what most are hoping for, but some don't see it happening.

i don't see a cup win personally, hope i am wrong, and getting cl with how we are presently playing would be a fecking miracle.

i think he has until end of season and he needs to get us some type of european football to keep his job ie win the cl :bandit: or finish in top 6 i think?, yeah even the ****ey europa, but we need to be on the world stage somehow.

Whilst I have been very critical of Rodgers' team selections, awful tactics and frankly everything else he has done this season, I think calling for him to be sacked is pathetic. We need to just give him the season and see where we are. A change of manager is not a good idea midway through a season, unless the players have no confidence in him - which I do wonder about with poor performers continually starting and how that can't be good for their respect of BR.

I have to agree with those who say that all of this talk about sacking is slightly more than premature. That does not disguise the fact that his team selections do appear to be somewhat strange and our results/performances have been shambolic most of the time!

He appears to have fallen between 2 stools. Until the WC bite, I think he fully expected Suarez to stay for another season and tried to buy young players that would fit around him. Ten in pre-season and at the start he ran into a number of injuries and hasn't been able to concoct a side or style that would compensate. Obviously the Sturridge injury didn't help matters. So the first 'stool' became a repeat of what happened to Spurs - not all of the signings were bad in themselves but they are young (and therefore higher risk players) and are taking a lot longer to show in a side that is lacking confidence.

The second 'stool' is having to rely upon senior players who have proved themselves to be well passed their prime. Therefore the players that the youngsters look for for help are themselves struggling. As Carra said we have no leaders on the pitch.

Now is the true time of testing for Rodgers. Last season he could do no more than go with the flow. He knew where the failings were and tried to address them in the Summer but the Suarez departure blew a hole in that strategy.

Last season he was a manager who was still learning and making mistakes. This season its exactly the same.

We've just taken out 50 goal a season strike partnership from the team last season due to one being injured and one being sold which means his mistakes aren't masked as they were last season with the goals.

He forms part of the committee and it's ridiculous to even try and pretend that the signings brought it weren't agreed by him, particularly given how high his stock was at the end of last season.

Amazing potential? Most of them have shown little to suggest that's the reality of it.

Your current form is far closer to the bottom 4 than the top 4, so you're going to have to dramatically improve in the coming weeks to have any chance at all of that.

Well said. And one of the things they don't mask are the 50+ goals you conceded in the league alone. If you look at your 13 league results, you've only failed to score in 3. You're not going to win every game so is scoring really your fundamental problem???

Now look at the defence. When you consider that of the 13 league results you've only managed to keep a clean sheet in 3 (and of the 10 games you've conceded in, half have been with 2 or more goals against) you can see Rodgers hasn't learned from his mistakes at all. For starters the figures show Gerrard wasn't a great DM last season and is being exposed even more this season. Rodgers bought into his own hype.

Have you not jumped the gun before? I admire (well sort of, actually I dont but hope you get my point) your arrogance but football changes very quickly

Sacking would be a last resort IMO. I would rather change the structure and employ a DoF and get some quality coaches in.

Rodgers does not have a clue on the defence - 3 years in and it's worse. No shame in it - managers aren;t expected to be perfect in every aspect. He needs a top class backroom staff behind him. And he needs a DoF who will head up the committee and look after transfers. Keep Rodgers away from that area.

Dropping Gerrard and Lovren is a sign of progress. Not perfect but it;s a start - he now needs to recognise that these are a part of the defensive issues we have. If they both come back into the team, then he hasn't learnt at all.

Then he needs to realise that Johnson and Skrtel are also a couple of clowns who need banishing. Get Moreno and Manquillo back into that defence.

Finally, ditch the 2 man midfield. It simply does not work and it stifles us in attack. We finally saw some attacking impetus when we ditched the 4-2-3-1. How many more times is Rodgers going to try it??
